Evening all, A question for all of those who have indoor cats, how do you keep them cool in this warm weather? I have all my windows on the catch so ther's fresh air coming in, and when we're in the house we'll hqve a window open, so we can keep an eye on her as well, I suppose im paranoid after loosing Conrad in August last year ( he had a heart condition and didn't cope in the heat ) I don't want history to repeat itself Any advice? ?

Our cats tend to find the coolest places in the house if it is too warm, we do have the french doors slightly open in the lounge though.

Hopefully someone else will have suggestions as ours are all able to go out. There are netting cvers for windows but I've no idea how good they are. I think someone else was asking about them on this forum. I'll see if I can find the thread & post a link here. Edit: found it - have a look at yourpetforums.co.uk/post/4926/thread

I have all windows slightly open but can have them wide open when it is very hot as I am lucky that Molly doesn't go out through choice. As Toni said there are netting covers you can get for windows and this topic has been mentioned by someone else before.

My 3 will go and find somewhere cool but I do have a fan that I put on in our bedroom as Bonnie likes to go in there. Only have the fan on though when im in the house.

Hmm, don't have that problem as our house has positive input ventilation system which pumps air from the loft into the house. It does cut out when it is very hot outside though but our house is roughly the same temperature as the antarctic so all is good! I actually often have to wear a jumper in my house all year round!

Perhaps you can look at some of the tower style fan? That Dyson style blade free one looks good and I suppose it's less hazardous because it doesn't have the moving parts.
I know you can get small air con units but appreciate that might be a bit much.

Both my cats can get out, but Bandit is much more of a house cat than Flirty is so while the weather is warm we always keep the curtains shut in our bedroom to keep the sun out and temperature down, plus the window is open a bit to let fresh air in.
