Just been reading the latest Your Cat magazine & the star letter is from forum member gemma123 regarding raising money for the rescue she supports, Clay County. In particular for a young cat they've called Felix who will need surgery & has already had some treatment, the bill is going to be over £2500. As not everyone gets the magazine I thought I'd post about it. If you don't get the magazine then you can read more on the appeal page www.gofundme.com/felixneedsyourhelp If anyone wishes to donate they are also taking Paypal donations to claycountycatcare@yahoo.co.uk by quoting Clay County Felix or by phone on 01726 890887.

Thank you tonib I will warn anyone who does pop on the go fund me page the pictures can be distressing. When I first saw him it broke my heart I have never seen anything like it before Leanne has worked so hard to help Felix through, we never give up on anyone who comes through the rescues doors. X

I saw the photos yesterday, didhn't think they warranted a warning although I just couldn't understand how he got in such a state when, in theory, he was being looked after but I suppose it was by an elderly person who may not have been able to cope. I've just looked again at the gofundme page & I can see there is a further update with more current photos. I now understand your warning gemma123 Poor boy. Fingers crossed for him.

Update We now need to raise 4.5k to help Felix fight and save his life. After having a conversation with Simon regarding Felix's appointment this morning, there is concern that he has a long fight on his paws, if these swabs come back negative, we will have to look in to him have abnormal cells in his skin that could be cancerous. To help the wound heal we may have to have a medical gauze stitched on to help the skin grow over it, but this will mine he will then have to have a another layer stitched on above it to protect the gauze that would need changing every 48 hours which means he will need sedating for this procedure.
Yes Felix has a fight ahead of him but we will keep fighting until we have exhausted all avenues or it becomes to much and he doesn't have a quality of life, we will need to do major fundraising to cover all these cost and if any of our supporters are able to donation any amount towards his care we would really appreciate that. Felix was left untreated for so long he deserves every chance we can give him.
Thank you to all in advance for you help and support.

Felix update 18/1/2016 Tonight I have been in tears over Felix, his wound has sadly gotten worse in a couple of days. I have spoken with Fiona who kindly phoned me at 9pm to discuss my concerns and she has said that she will also take a look at him in the morning along with Steve and Simon, and let us know if there is anything that can be done to save him, we will do everything to save him, we have already spent way over 1k on him, money is not a problem as the CCCC team will fundraise and work so hard to find a way of paying his bill.
What we are asking our supporters is, if any of you are free to come and spend some time with him here at the rescue, Felix loves attention and I feel we dont know how this is going to pan out with him and if he is shown lots of love and attention, if I have to make that hard decision at least he would of crossed over the rainbow bridge knowing what lots of love felt like, if you are able to spare a hour of your time to come sit with Felix please contact the rescue.
Thank you all so much for your help and support so far, and thank you to the amazing team I work with who keep me strong when faced with such hard decisions. - Leanne xxx
Felix update 19/1/2016 He has seen Steve this morning and allowed him to deep clean his wound without any type of sedation, he was so well behaved, we will continue with another lot of his current antibiotics until we get his swab results back at the end of the week, we don't know how his wound will heal so we will take it day by day, we will know more hopefully by Friday. Thank you for all your support, and to all the lovely supporters that have come and visited Felix today at the rescue.
Thank you scallywag for your kind donation. Going to sound thick what is the stamp thing x

Thank you scallywag for your kind donation. Going to thick what is the stamp thing x The 'stamp thing' is a wonderful idea by scallywag where if we want to collect donations for someone we all send some postage stamps (whatever we can afford) to scallywag and she 'buys' them for her company use and the money is then donated.
Poor Felix, he deserves all the help that he can get - he is certainly a fighter.

Not everyone has spare cash but some always have a stamp or 2 unused, every little helps. We did a fund raiser for spider as he goes out and feeds stray cats, managed to get over £35 in the end. But we are missing lots of members of late maybe they are busy busy, but Im still up for it lotsofcats and gemma123 so will wait and see if the postman comes lots again LOL x

Sorry it's been ages for an update I've been planning something (still am :-) ) Fantastic news for a very special boy tonight who's start in life was very hard but was given a lifeline by CCCC when he came to us several months ago to start treatment for his open wounds. Felix's back is nearly completely healed and he has been reserved to go to a new forever home by the sea with a fantastic couple to start a new chapter in his life in a few weeks time. They didn't originally come to see felix but he stole their heart. He will be sorely missed by all of us here but we are so pleased that he is finally able to have the life he deserves.
