Hi! I've always considered myself a dog person, but somehow have ended up with cats instead!! Our girls, present and (sadly) past - P1050849 by scarletslippers, on Flickr Jemima, a light-coloured tortie (age about 4) who has been with us for about 18 months. We adopted her from Cats Protection along with her friend Hamble, who sadly died in March this year. Beautiful cats - you must miss Hamble so much, she was gorgeous. Well done on getting rescue cats. My oldest cat Bramble was a feral kitten from a cat rescue centre, then I had 2 Maine Coons and then along came stray Kali, my tortie who was pregnant and I kept her and 2 of her kittens. Then Toffee adopted me too! He's my ginger boy and my only outdoor cat and he doesn't mix with the others in the house, he sleeps in their cat pen at night and comes and goes as he pleases in the day. He thinks he has to protect the other cats in their pen and he catches rats for them and pokes them into the cat pen!

Hamble was a queen among cats, with a huge personality, big and beautiful. We all cried buckets when she died, including my husband. In fact, he cried the most! He absolutely adored Hamble. She's now buried in the garden, with a cat statue marking her grave. Jemima often sits next to it, and I'd like to think it's because she knows that's her friend's final resting place. We always wanted 2 cats, but were a bit nervous adopting Mae in case she and Mima hated each other. They're not friends, but they tolerate each other quite happily. What I like about rescue cats is that Cats Protection can usually tell you what sort of character the cats in question have, so we could choose ones that seemed to fit best into our family. And all 3 of our cats have had just the sweetest natures imaginable, which is the only thing that really matters to us - we couldn't care less what they look like, really, just want to give a loving home to cats who might otherwise not have one :-)

So glad you sorted out how to post photos helendann as the photos are of gorgeous cats. Ho wonder you all were so upset when Hamble passed on, she looks lovely & comfortable with Jemima We have 4 rescue cats but like you I was always a dog person (we had labs or dalmatians when I was a child) although I always liked cats but I don't miss a dog now with our 4 !

I grew up with a cocker spaniel - my parents got him when I was 7 and he was with us until I was 21, so he was a major part of my life. But my husband grew up with cats, and cats are more practical for our family situation...so cats it is! :-)

My husband's family had cats when he was a child & practicality of work etc meant dogs were out the question of either of us - so snap!

Beautiful looking fur family x. As a lot on here know, I am not a cat person, always had dogs, do remember as a child we once had a cat cause I remember her kittens were housed in the airing cupboard but I was only about 4 or 5 not sure what happened after that

Haha well I'm both a cat and a dog person - both are awesome, just in very, very different ways haha. A walk is never as good without a dog, and sleeping in a bed without two cats snuggled in (or lying on your back, crushing you, like Mieze did to me last night) feels so empty and lonely haha.
