A cat has been in our garage and sprayed on the other halfs fishing chair and now it stinks. We're not sure if its our tom as he's been spayed, but does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can get rid of the smell? Did think of bicarb just wondered if there was anything else I could try.

I've had a scout around on the internet and the only thing I can find is Bicarbonate of soda, when getting rid of fox poo smells from Jess we use tomato ketchup but I'm pretty sure that would stain and have never used it with wee as Frank's never done it inside! I think you may just have to persist with bicarb

Thanks CC, that was what I'd thought but I'm alway open to other Ideas. I'd heard about the tomato ketchup before but never had the need to try it, but as you say in this case it would probably stain and then I don't think I'd be too popular with the other half.

Yes other ideas are always helpful! Ketchup would probably leave it looking worse than it did before

There's a product that's available from Pets at Home & other places that is called Simple Solution Stain & Odour Removal the company info is hereThe PAH link is www.petsathome.com/shop/simple-solution-stain-and-odour-remover-by-pets-at-home-58674It's also available online from a lot of the UK suppliers. I've used it & it certainly gets rid of the smell but it also can add one of its own - slightly more pleasant but still strong does eventually fade. Someone I know has uses the ordinary oxy-action stain remover sprays with success but not sure if that is on something that is then washed. For other accidents, sick etc. on carpets we use the distilled malt vinegar (clear not brown) which works well on removing the stain & any smell, not tried it on cat spray. It's used diluted, we wet/damp a kitchen sponge then pour a bit (less than a cap full) of the vinegar on. Hope that helps.

Thank you tonib, I'd forgotten about the vinegar. I use to use that years ago when our old dog got incontinent. We have a PAH down the road, if I've time tomorrow I'll nip in and have a look for the product you mentioned above. Again thanks, all advice is greatly appreciated.

Oh that's not nice, I don't envy you there! White vinegar worked in our shed when the neighbours cat was in spraying, but it does make things smell like vinegar for a while afterwards! It also gets rid of wee stains, commonly recommended for cleaning rabbit hutches that have had an entire male in, because it gets rid of the spray stains.
Hope you can get something to work, cat wee smells awful!

Can think why I didn't think of that earlier. DOH!!!!!

cazypops, make sure its the distilled malt vinegar not the brown malt vinegar! I was given this advice by a carpet layer & advised to use it for any stains, not just animal, rather than other carpet stain removers.

LOL, yes it's the white distilled vinegar, I use to use it years ago when I had a dog that was incontinent, that's why I can't believe I forgot about it.

There's a product called Bio-clean that my friend uses in her house as she has both cats and dogs and she swear by it. Seemingly it is used by dairies, stables etc but as is organic can be used safely within your home and is completely non toxic. Going to give it a try myself and I'll let you know what its like.
