Well Amber's been on raw for almost 2 weeks now, she's loving it! Although she never really had any "problems" the difference already is amazing! She enjoys mealtimes more than ever now!! I am enjoying it too and getting into the hang of defrosting etc and getting good at organising the freezer because I always get more than I ever have any hope of fitting in!! Holly started raw this weekend, she loves it too! I am keeping her on Chicken for a few weeks, so she is having Natural Instinct Chicken AM and Chicken Wings PM. Amber is getting more variety now, but mostly chicken and beef still, although I do have a few pork ribs and turkey backs in the freezer. We are getting to know our butcher quite well now and I'd like to get her some tripe and lamb soon. I think I am going to be doing it the DIY way though as the pre-prepared stuff is expensive for a dog the size of Amber, plus she doesn't get any chewing from it, I feel the DIY will be better for her too. I will try and make her diet balanced/complete-ish over the period of a week. Am I right in understanding she needs approx 80% meat/bone 10% fruit/veg 10% offal??? Plus should I be adding any other supplements? Thanks guys. P.S. This was tonight's dinner - chicken, banana and coconut oil. Went down well! Photo No.19 by anna-amber, on Flickr

My girls have had lamb for the first time tonight and gobbled it down! Are you feeding your chicken frozen? (just out of interest)
For the percentages, the 80/10/10 is what I've heard, but I'm sure there will be others that can advise better. I think that feeding veg is a personal choice, rather than an absolute requirement. As for the supplements, I'm not too sure. I know that people give lots of different ones, but again, I think it's a personal choice as to which ones you give.

No, I don't feed it frozen, it's just that I took the photo when I took it out to de-frost! She tends to prefer it totally defrosted, unless it's a hot day, then she enjoys it frozen. I am doing gooey and chewy meals for her, gooey (in other words no-bone) in the morning and then chewy (aka boney) in the evening!! I know it sounds weird 80/10/10 is what I am going to work on, I think I will add some veggies/fruit because in my opinion they are doing no harm. For the supplements, I am just throwing in a bit of something every now and then, and they seem to be doing fine. Currently I am using up all my NM/NI as it is using up massive freezer space, and then I am doing full DIY. I saw the photos of Pepper and Ellie on the raw feeders facebook page, looks like they enjoyed them! I am hoping to get Amber some lamb this week. She had pork ribs yesterday and loved them!

Ahh, I see! That makes sense lol. I haven't tried mine with it frozen yet, but I'm sure I will in the summer. Haha, no that's a good way to describe them!! I think I'll be doing the same as you when I make the move to raw fully. Ellie loves her veggies, so I'm not going to deprive her of them. Oh they definitely did! I'm hoping a few more bones like that will help their teeth. Good luck! Hopefully it's not too expensive for you. Last time Pepper had a pork rib, she ate it really fast, but she does like them

Amber & Holly love their veggies. Amber's favourites are probably broccoli and melon. Holly enjoys carrot and apple!
Amber had some beef heart this week and liked it, so she's now getting some offal.
Do any raw feeders add seeds/nuts to their dogs diet? And what ones?
