Well miss went for her flea and wormer on Saturday and the vet recommended that she needs a dental as she has a big plaque build up which is causing her discomfort so she's booked in for the 10th. Going to ask if they can scan her too as she's being sick a lot with hair balls and I'm wondering if she has a blockage somewhere.

Oh poor Georgia, hope the dental makes her more comfortable & they don't find anything out of the ordinary with the scan & its just a case of more hairballs. We're used to then with Penny she's always had spates of almost daily hairballs but she moults a lot all year - you should see how we have to hoover out her bed. In her case I think she spends too much time close to a radiator (even if not on) or in the warm sunshine through a window.

Hi Tonib. She sicks hers up in a delightful part digested food array. I'm thinking of getting one of those spot carpet cleaners

heartpawprints, We use 50% distilled vinegar (the clear one) & water. we have a permanent bottle mixed up Penny is often very generous & has been know to visit 4 rooms getting rid of just one hairball, boy does she heave her sides in the process. She was kind tonight - 3 patches but in one area of the carpet, only one had some fur in it.

She will feel much better once her teeth have been cleaned.
Only one of mine vomits often (Tommie) No hairballs but food. Yesterday I had "fun". Not only on the armrest of my couch, but on the keyboard of the laptop as well. I used a toothbrush and when it was dry the vacuum cleaner. I couldn't remove the keys. On my old one it was possible to lift them up.

Well I feel a little better that others have sicky cat stories. I was starting to worry I was doing something wrong.
Well an update on Henry the stray - last Monday night I got home to see him with a angry wound just below the base of his ear near his eye. It was about the size of a penny. His eye was smaller so I thought he'd been grazed by acar. Could I catch him to rush him to the vet for treatment? Of course not. I just had to keep feeding him and hoping for the best. Come Thursday he was looking distinctly more chipper and alert. So safe to say that's one of his 9 lives gone.

8.5 lives left. When my stray had a wound, I took pictures and went to the vet to show him the wound. Then, if necessary, he gave me something to mix with his food. I think Henry's wound will heal of its own.

That's a really good idea Dutchkittens. His wound is healing but I think he could have done with some stitches.

Poor Henry - glad that he is getting better. Georgia will feel much better after her dental work. I find hairballs from my lot nearly every day - I don't know if it's because 5 of them are long haired.

That seems like a reasonable supposition lots of cats.

Well I've got to collect Georgia at 5:15 and they've said she needed a minimum of 2 teeth out so we shall see.

Got Georgia home. 4 teeth removed and looks like we've got to the root of her sicking up. She's starting with an inflammatory bowel condition. It's common in older cats. So we'll just have to work out an effective management plan.

Glad to hear Georgia is back home safely with a pearly smile, albeit with a few less gnashers on display. Hope she's feeling OK. Nice to have got a reason for her throwing up, shame its something you have to manage though, but hopefully things will improve.
