Yesterday after doing the first round of vaccinations on our 9 week old kitten (and coincidentally being given 3 pipettes of Advocate to prevent fleas), I noticed flea dirt where she had been sleeping. I have no idea if she's had fleas the whole time she's been with us or it's something new, but I have noticed a scab behind her ear where she's been itching, but apart from that she's been very healthy and active.
So I've treated her with the Advocate, vacuumed and sprayed my bedroom with de-fleaing spray, and done the same to the living room and all her toys.
What I haven't done is given her a flea bath, as I've seen a lot of mixed opinions on how useful it is? Anyway, I've since picked about 10 fleas from her, but I have no idea about eggs as they're so tiny. She's also not a fan of being held for any amount of time, so flea combing is done in very short bursts. I haven't seen any fleas or eggs on her today at all but she's still scratching, and I have seen a few throughout the house as I was vacuuming and spraying.
My main problem is that I'm very worried about just how many flea eggs must be dispersed around the house and in my bed and clothes (she sleeps with me every night as she gets very anxious by herself), even with the vacuuming, spraying and spot-on treatments I've done. Will all of this be enough to kill them off over the next couple of months as I carry on doing the Advocate? It's a bit overwhelming knowing just how many fleas there must be in the house and how easy it is for them to multiply, and it does feel like I'll never get it under control.
