Mr Ruppee came in last night and a wad of his semi long hair fell out when he had the obligatory shake. He looked a bit bedraggled. :oMummy (me) then noticed he was without his collar and then on his white chest there was some pinky staining - i.e. blood. Methinks the little tinker has had a little bout of cat fisticuffs!
Mummy got caught with a super quick swipe when she tried to look into further suspected injuries in the theme of no good deed goes unpunished.
Pleased to say that he seems absolutely fine this evening. Daddy isn't on shift till Wednesday so has been looking out for him today.

It could also be he got caught with his collar & the struggle caused the collar & hair loss.
Hopefully the blood wasn't his. I'm sure you'll keep an eye on him as when our Roman was in fights he had a tendency to get a small wound which sometimes turned into an abcess.

I am convinced tonight it was a fight as he has a deep scratch just below his ear on his face. Ginge (RIP) a ginger cat I had was notorious for fights and abscesses so I am going to keep an eye on this scratch and watch his eyes. I could always tell with Ginge as his expression would change with an abscess even though I often couldn't see a wound. I am being treated to snuggle with Mummy in bed tonight or maybe he's being a bit clingy. Bless

Toni has said everything I was thinking. Perhaps Mr Ruppee squeezed under a fence or hedge and this caused the collar to come off and the scratch on his face. My only outdoor cat Toffee is always doing it and he lost 3 collars in a week recently. He came back in with a scratched ear and a patch without fur on it and had only been out about 10 minutes!

Pleased he is ok, my first thought was that he may have got caught somewhere by his collar. Hope it was a one off and he doesn't come home in that state again.

Like the others, I think it must have been the collar. That's why mine never wear them.

Pleased Mr.R. is home and safe,it sounds as though Mr Ruppee may have had a very lucky escape.Collars are used so people can see a cat isn't a stray and for quick identification,or with bell to warn birds of their approach.Sadly for many cats which get caught up through them, the outcome can be a disaster, with the cat badly injured or even dead.

That's why I always get the snap open collars.

That's why I always get the snap open collars. Same here but some collars are easy to open snap so I suspect the odd one maybe more difficult there doesn't seem to be consistence even across the same brand from my experience.

I've found the ancol ones pretty good. Oddly enough those are the ones we've lost a few of as well as kept some. I've resorted to testing the snap before buying
