I am surprised that the vet did not tell you how to build up the weak muscle, or did not refer you to a physiotherapist to make sure that the correct muscles are put to work.

An excersise like swimming could be a great way of building back muscle stregnth. Obviously, she would need someone in the water alongside her to asist her with her being like she is.

Hydrotherapy should not be carried out without the referal of the vet or a qualified canine physiotherapist!!! No respectable hydrotherapy establishment will take on a dog with problems without such referal. Even healthy dogs, just wanting to swim for fun need a confirmation from their vets to say that they are ok to swim.

Yes, I didn't mean to say swim before they had their vets permission.

Thanks for helping me out not very good on computers!! The vet suggested hydrotherapy but did not actually refer us to anyone. I contacted a hydro therapist and they are getting in touch with the vet so that we can get started. The vet would not even recommend anyone!!

I don't suppose a vet would be able to checkout all other professionals within their area, and as such if they recommend someone who in your opinion isn't up to the job then vet is open to comeback. Bit of a pain if you're unsure who to turn to but thats the way it is today.
