Hello! New to this Forum, please be kind! My name's Eleanor, I live in a town called Bedworth in Warwickshire. Don't worry if you've never heard of it ... neither has most of the county. Halfway between Coventry and Nuneaton. I have two rescue cats - both sort of private rescues. I'll let them introduce themselves: Hello, Everybody! My name is Mili. It's short for Militant Teetotaller, because when I moved in with Prowp I didn't know how to be stroked, and while I was learning I knocked over two cans of cider with my tail. I used to belong to some Horrible Neighbours of hers. When she noticed me, I was hungry. And smelly, because I'd stopped washing. I didn't know how Stroking worked, or what Play was. I very nervously crept into her house over a long time. I got food. I got strokes. I started washing again. And then I remembered how to play, and eventually I remembered what purring is. I was a Very Happy Cat. Prowp promised we would not have an Other Cat unless I was the one who brought it home. And then one day last summer, she came home with a Box. And in that box was Hello, Lots of Peoples! I am Kitty. Most of the time. I am also Chiaroscuro Kitness and Kitty Kitness and Katie and all sorts of things! And the Other Cat calls me Horrible Kitty and I says she is a Norrid Blackcat so there! One day when it was all hot I was in a place full of Asleep Cars because someone put me there and I didn't know where else to go. And then a Newmum came to talk to me. She said, Are you friendly? So I did my best purrs and said Yes! And she picked me up and gave me lovely cuggles and she said You are Too Thin! And so she took me home because I was only skins and bones and quite a little kitty. She was going to find me a New Home but no-one wanted me except her so I am still here and Norrid Blackcat does not like me but I will show her because I am still growing and she isn't! You'll gather they don't really get on. Two neutered females in one house isn't ideal. But they're fairly happy, and sometimes manage to share a chair, a bed - or even me. Mili is about seven years old. A few years ago, she developed cystitis (often connected with an unhappy kittenhood), and is on medication for it. Kitty is about a year old - her arbitrary birthday was March 1st. Both were too old for the vet to ascribe a definite age, so it's all guesswork. Mili's former owners eventually did a moonlight flit, and neither cat was chipped. Mili has gone on holiday with me three times - Kitty was only around for the first, and stayed with friends. And that's us! Hello! Oh - yes - what do they look like? Mili is mostly black, with a scrappy white bib and some white under one forepaw, and what the vet calls "ticking", which means odd white hairs in a black coat. Kitty is a sort of tabby-tortoiseshell, very pretty. Both shorthaired, though Kitty is able to fluff her tail to a remarkable degree. She's had it caught in a door, I think: the tip is missing, and it has two kinks. Mili would like me to add that her tail is long and sleek.

Welcome to the forum eleanor, Mili and Kitty too. I look forward to hearing more about how you're both getting on. Mili your story sounds very similar to my two horrors, Flirty and Bandit. Flirty sneaked in first, then was closely follow by Bandit. They both came from the same house, but prefered to live with me. Bandit says she can't stand that grey fluff ball Flirty, and as for that pesky mutt. but it I have to share the house with them fer enough, but don't expect me to cuddle up with them coz you've no chance. I hope you enjoy it on here, we're a friendly group.

Welcome to the forum eleanor & of course Milli & Kitty Hope you enjoy it here. I'm Toni with 4 rescue cats (one private) aged between 5 & nearly 16. Like your 2 they are not best buds & never share space although occasionally there are 2 on our bed - I think our 4th was the final straw for the other 3 but we've muddled through. A great introduction from the mistresses of the household look forward to hearing more of their antics

Welcome to the forum I'm Erika and live with Rosa my dog, and my two cats Mieze (who we took off someone who was seriously neglecting her, then had her living with him with drug paraphernalia lying out everywhere, then abandoned her with someone whose dog attacked her), and Carlotta (whose last owners just didn't want her due to her health problems). My two didn't get on at first either but I did a really really long introduction and over the course of the next few months they continued to get closer, and now regularly play together, plus a couple weeks ago I had a hot water bottle, and woke up to find it had been stolen - Mieze was lying on top of it and Carlotta was cuddled in to her, both trying to get the warmth haha! Looking forward to hearing more of you threes exploits

Welcome to the forum Eleanor - a lovely introduction to your 2 girls, Mili and Kitty. Well done for rescuing them - 2 very lucky kitties ending up in a forever home with such a caring person. I'm Jenny and I have 7 cats and 2 dogs. My oldest cat Bramble was a stray feral kitten, Kali was a very young abandoned and pregnant cat who I had to adopt and then kept 2 of her kittens. Toffee is my last adopted stray and my only outdoor cat - he is a very pampered outdoor cat though, he comes in and out of the house all day while the other cats are in the garden cat pen. He sleeps in the cats' pen at night. My other 2 cats are Maine Coons.
I look forward to hearing more about you and your 2 kitties and hopefully see some pics soon.

Welcome to the Forum Eleanor with Milli and Kitty. A lovely way to introduce yourselves. Hope you will enjoy your time on here and perhaps post some photos.
I don't have any pets right now as the landlady doesn't approve but I do petsit occasionally and used to own a boarding cattery in Spain.

I have to find out how to post photos, here and elsewhere. Both girls are outside at the moment, and later I'm going to my stepmother's. She used to have a cat, but it had to be put down after being badly bitten by something, and owing to age and ill-health Anne doesn't want to get another pet. But she's been feeding an apparent stray ... who has now had kittens. Under a holly bush. Cats Protection is probably going to have to help, but of course they're snowed under with cats and kittens. I certainly can't take any more here! Ooh! Hello, Lots of Peoples! My Newmum bought me a little Shed For Cats and it is nice to sit on and maybe in. Norrid Blackcat has got a different one made out of plastic with a round hole to get in. Yes. It is very comfy. It smelt of an Other Cat when I first got it but now it smells of Me. Keep Out. It was left outside someone's house with a note saying Please Take - they'd had a semi-feral living in it, but he'd died. It's a lovely cat-house, but no maker's name, unfortunately, or I'd have tried for another one. I left them a bottle of strawberry vinegar as a thank-you. Also my Newmum has been Differenting our garden! She dug a hole and I said Thank You Newmum and did a poo in it. I don't understand why she stood there laughing or why she dug a second hole because I only needed one. It was actually for transplanting a Bleeding Heart plant that'd got too big! Kitty has recently taken to attacking the flower bed, pouncing on it before she vigorously digs a hole big enough to bury herself in! And she keeps trying to pounce on me when I'm doing a wee. This is true. Poor Mili - it must be very off-putting!

Hahaha loved the story about you seemingly digging holes specifically for the cats to poop into. How very thoughtful of you Do you think your step mum will end up taking on the stray cat or any of the kittens despite not wanting another cat? It's very hard to turn them down when they choose you like that I'd imagine! Also what type of cat house is it? I traded some of my mans hot sauce for a wooden cat chalet a friend had (her cats never used it) and mines LOVE it haha, although when other people come to my house and see it they always give me a "ohmygosh I never realised how crazy cat lady you were until now" look hahaha.

Great story eleanor, Hope Cats Protection (or another rescue) can help our stepmother's stray & family but sadly it is kitten season so they do get innundated. If nothing else they may be able to help with spaying the mum so she doesn't have any more kittens & eventually neuter the kittens when they're old enough. As to photos you need to use a photo hosting service such as the free Photobucket or Flickr. They're the most common ones on here. I use Flickr & scallywag uses Photobucket, we'd be more than happy to help you share photos with the forum.

Kitty's is a little wooden thing that look like this shop.justforpets.uk.com/User/Products/MedImg/Small%20Animal/11308_small_animal_home.jpg Oh no it doesn't - I can't post pictures on here! Maybe the link will work. Mili's is a little plastic thing, like a small pagoda but with a round hole in the front. She likes it. It has no maker's name or other means of identification, so I can't get another one for Kitty. Anne is already taking care of the cat - which rubbed round her ankles while I was there (first time she's done so), and came for food several times in a couple of hours. But she's 75, with various health problems, and doesn't what a pet that might well outlive her. I went to my stepmother (Anne) yesterday. No sign of a den under the holly - or anywhere else. But the cat came several times for food, rubbed Anne's ankles, and approached me for a sniff of Dreamies, though she wouldn't take them from my hand. She came for food so often, she must be feeding kittens, but we couldn't work out where - Anne's and her neighbours' gardens are quite large, with plenty of hidey-holes, and back onto fields and smallholdings. So I don't think trap-neuter-return is appropriate yet - we don't know how old the kittens are, or where they are, or whether they're likely to escape if Mummycat disappears for a while. The cat is a tabby, quite small, and longhaired, making it hard to tell if she's fat or thin or neutral.

The only thing you can do is keep feeding the mother cat lots and lots and she will eventually bring the kittens into the garden when they are old enough as she learns to trust who feeds her and then the trap could be placed out to catch them all. I fed a little black cat years ago - I only noticed her because I had been putting food out for hedgehogs at the top of the garden and noticed her run across and steal some - at the time I assumed she was pregnant but she had already had the kittens and she brought them into the garden about a week later. After about a week I managed to catch them by enticing them into a cat box with food and found homes for the kittens - they were quite feral but settled down well. I kept the mother cat and called her Midnight - she wasn't feral, just a stray.
