I don't think its normal, though can't really say what it would be! Something's cleary irritating him, maybe he has an allergy to something or something stuck between the pads. I would get him checked out by a vet to make sure he's not in pain and to get it sorted.

If Marmalde will allow, get a bowl of luke warm salt water and swish the paw around in it.With a bit of luck any grit etc will wash out,but the salt water will at least cleanse the area.Snapping when you go near it shows it is painful.

When did Marmalade start licking her paw? Does she lick all the time? Is she limping?

Thankyou for the help I'll try the salt thing later today.
She has been doing it for around a month and she doesn't limp she does it on and off just will randomly start?

Can you tell us when she does it - time of day, day of the week, what is going on in the house? People coming, going, settling down to watch a program on tv? How long she does it for?
If she is not limping or otherwise showing pain, her licking could be caused by boredom or OCD. But, since you say she growls when approached it could be resource guarding.
And none of the above is normal.

It's honestly just random it could be at the park or just when she is going to sleep

I think Marmalade needs to see a vet, if he doesn't find anything wrong then a behaviourist. The growling would really concern me - one day she might lunge and bite if the problem is no sorted out.
