I let Toffee out this morning and a mere 20 minutes later he is sat on the windowsill waiting to come in and he is black and wet all over! - only his head is recognisable as ginger. I though he had been run over first of all but he's not hurt in any way. It's not oil thank goodness, it's just very dirty black muddy water with lots of fine grit in it - it's even all over his tummy - at first I though he had been fighting but there's no scratches on him and he still has his collar so I wonder if he fell into something? I just had time to wipe him down a bit with a towel and then some kitchen towel. I had to put him in the cat cage and go to work so I don't know what my husband will do with him!? A bath is out of the question as Toffee would go mental. The windowsill is covered in the black mud and it's all splashed up the window.

That's my Tommie all over. You cannot see it on him because he is already black. But the windowsill, couch, carpet etc. tell his tale.

Ha ha shame the camera was not handy, I shouldn't laugh but I would have liked to see your face Jenny. How is he this morning ? Its a good job our pets fur actually cleans itself ( well dogs do anyways ) Beau can be outside running about, often comes in with big black smudges on his fur where he has gone half under the car to get out his ball, which he put there in the first place, might I add but after couple hours indoors its all worn off.

I wish I had thought of taking a photo of him. Yes, I can imagine my face - I went "Toffee, what have you done now This morning he is a lot cleaner after having been wiped down some more yesterday and having washed a lot of it off. He is looking more like a ginger and white cat again! He has a big part down his bag which is still quite grey and it's stuck in peaks - I have been sneaking up to him with the cat comb and when I comb through it some black bits come away. My husband thinks Toffee got chased by the new tom cat in the area and his under one of the cars down the road - I don't know, Toffee was covered all over, underneath as well. I washed the towel I wiped him in and it came clean so no oil on it.

Sounds like a fell into dirty water escapade. Glad he is gradually becoming his usual shade.

Poor Toffee, hopefully back to his gorgeous ginger & white self again now. Must have been quite a shock, lotsofcats, to see him like that.

He is back to his gorgeous self now - he won't tell me what he did though! I've told him not to do it again - he's quite good following instructions at the moment - Toffee is in and out all day long and when he goes out about 2 o'clock my husband tells him to be back by 5 - and he always turns up just before 5.
