Hi all, not been on here in a while so it's nice to be back!
I have recently been noticing something different in our cat Oscar's behaviour and I'm wondering if someone has been nasty to him or if it's just a bit too cold for him outside (He did also recently turn 10 so maybe he's turning a bit senile?)
Anyway,
normally Oscar loves the outdoors, and we never see him apart from in the morning when he eats and early evening when he eats. While he is a vocal cat, he has never been hugely affectionate and has never been a lap cat and won't sleep on a human bed if someone is in it
Recently however, all this is totally differently. He goes out in short bursts of max 20 mins, then will come back inside meowing non stop and purring loads. When he's inside, he follows me round the house constantly (The last time he did this was when he first had his eye removed) and will sit with me while I eat/watch TV etc etc. He also now has to sleep on a bed, but won't do so until someone is in the bed - then he'll sleep right up next to us (He did used to do this when he was a kitten but hasn't for a long time) - also the other day he was sat next to me while I was putting some heavy walking boots on and he scarpered away and didn't come back out from hiding until I took the boots off.
This is weird because while I am finding his new extra friendly behaviour really sweet, it is definitely uncharacteristic - I am wondering if someone wearing big boots has done something to spook him which has put him off going outside for too long? Or maybe it is just his age and the cold now? (Do cats even get cold?!)
