Hello fellow cat lovers, my name is Sarraa Abdulkader and I have one ginger and white, rescue moggie who goes by the name of Jelly (hence my username). She has me wrapped around her little paws and I love her to pieces  I’ve mainly joined the forum to pick the brains of all you cat owners out there  As well as being a cat lover and owner, I’m also a final year university student doing my dissertation on the factors that influence the decision to neuter a cat or dog in the UK. I know it’s a topic that we all have to think about as cat owners and I'd love to know the reasons why you’ve decided to neuter (or not neuter) your cats. Done - hope all goes Ok with your dissertation - We have a number of trainee veterinary nurses from your college doing their year out at the vets we use. Thanks for filling it out! That's really cool that you have Hartpury vet nurses working at the vets you go to. Whereabouts is your vets? I only know 2 of the vet nurses, a really nice guy called Dan Jones who lives in lichfield and a girl called Emily Mullord (i'm not sure where she lives though) both of them were on their placement years last year |

I know one of the current trainees is from Liverpool but others are from much further afield. |

Good luck with it. My "religious beliefs" had nothing to do with it, because (a) I have no religious beliefs (grew out of Christianity some years after reading the whole of the Bible), and (b) if I did, I can't see why any reasonable god(dess) would want a whole load of unwanted kittens and puppies around the place! To be quite frank, anyone who doesn't have an animal neutered because of religious beliefs should probably have a nice long chat with their minister (or equivalent). I don't know of any religion that bans neutering.

eleanor I would assume that Catholicism wouldn't look too fondly on neutering due to its stance on birth control, possibly other religions are similar. I don't think they are openly against pet neutering but I imagine many followers would be.
