I'm new to this forum, until recently I had 2 cats but unfortunately had to have one put to sleep last week (his body was giving up and the vet advised we let him go). His name was Tom and he was an 11 year old black rescue cat (he had a sad history - first owner died, he went into rescue, got rehomed, new owner blamed him for spraying when it was the other cat, he got returned to rescue, stayed in rescue for a few more months - he spent almost a year in rescue in total - a relative of mine then took him but he didn't settle and ran away, a neighbour found him after three weeks of him being missing, returned him to my family and instead of him going back into rescue I said I'd take him because they didn't want to return him, so he came to me, spent nearly 3 months at my house with me and my own cat Ebony (another rescue, before he became ill and went to the vets, they tried to help him recover but as they discovered when the vet xrayed him they couldn't do anything. He passed away on Friday at 2.15 at the vets without me being with him My Ebony's history was also sad - she was found on the streets with a litter of kittens and only two of her litter survived, the others in the litter had already died and she had been injured at some point. I look forward to chatting with you all

Welcome to the forum ebony, hope you enjoy it here. It sounds like Tom had a good last few months with you & Ebony. Well doe on taking in 2 rescue black cats, don't know why but they are often the hardest for the rescue centres to rehome.

Welcome to the forum, looking forward to hearing about Ebony and sad to hear about Tom. I also have a "rescue" (we took her off her drug addicted owner who had been neglecting her for months and then kept her in a room full of needles and drug stuff) black cat and I have no idea why it is so hard for rescues to rehome black cats, they are gorgeous!
