The cause of the bad breath needs to be established first. Is it his teeth? Problem in the mouth? Poor digestion? Maybe a visit to the vet is the best way forward?

I agree with zahada , you need to first establish why the dog has bad breath, as it can often be a sign of some other problem. Also it could be to do with what you are feeding your dog, and if the dog has just eaten something gross. My dog has pretty good breath, but when she's raided the cat litter, urgh...
