Sorry to hear Beau has been so unwell but hope he's on the road to recovery now. Our post-op special food for our two is steamed, mashed sweet potato mixed with cooked chicken, which has water added to it as, as you've said, dogs aren't good about drinking enough after an op! Our two love these meals, and it's the only way we can get water into them. I just thought I'd mention that as an option for if you're worried about him drinking enough, though I'm sure he'll get back to his usual self soon!

Hopefully he will start to drink himself soon. The vet gave Fern a painkiller and she was so groggy she wouldn’t eat or drink! What medication is Beau on? He helped himself to a drink from his bowl this morning taken his tablets again no problem. He is on Kesium ( what ever they are ? anyone ? ) and also on Meloxidyl why did I think he was on Metacam or are they one of the same just different generic name ? Had a fairly good night, was bitterly cold here, heating was on all night. It snowed sometime after 4.30am no sign of it when we were out toileting x Thanks for all your good wishes x

Sorry to hear that it was very cold. Hope snow does not settle or it gets slippery outside, that is the last thing you need at the moment.

Poor Beau, he does look sorry for himself. His wound looks healthy. Have you ever tried those soft collar type cones?
Get another duvet on the bed! I hope you get used to your new sleeping quarters.

Glad you both had a good night 😊and you are managing to get his pain killers down .
I have seen those inflatable doughnuts at pets at home they look much better than the big plastic cones ☹️Riley was completely freaked out with the cone ☹️He was just bashing into everything.
How is Beau doing today ?

Beau is doing great thanks, much better than the first time , as in not vomiting. He needs the hood he has because he managed to negotiate his way to get access to his knee the last time, and my previous Springer Tobi, well he just kept swinging his head until he managed to hook it over the knee and had a good chomp , both times , this is the 4th cruciate op we have had to pay for

The doughnuts are great but not much good for anything on back half of dog, mine can reach their back legs, tail, privates etc with one on. Every time I have an issue with mine I think I should invest in a comfy cone but still not got around to doing it! Comfy cone is like cone of shame but not so rigid.

Glad to hear Beau is home & feeling a bit better after his op. I didn't know they bandaged cruciate repairs on dogs, Roman's wasn't covered at all so like Beau he had t have his cone on all the time. Hopefully Beau will remember quickly how to to do everything with the cone on & not to do the things he shouldn't.
We've had frosts but I don't think we've actually had snow these last couple of days. Its been really cold the last 2 nights although the heating hasn't been come on overnight (yet). Hope you're both keeping warm.

Glad to hear Beau is doing well I hope he has a problem-free recovery! It's stressful enough having to have them go through operations without the complications afterwards. Finn can get his head around a cone of shame so we always find it difficult stopping him bothering wounds. He's just so long and lanky!
