(Silly question I know)
Would fresh chicken thighs be okay to give Dexter?
He is fed Felix as good as it looks at the moment as its all he will eat. I had tried to shift him onto a full raw diet but he is just not having it. Tried doing everything with the slow approach to it and then slowly taking away his cat food, but nope, he wouldnt do it.
So I thought to myself that half raw fed and half cat food diet is better than no raw feed as at least he is still getting some of the nutrients and the health benefit of a raw fed diet. He seems to thoroughly enjoy raw chicken the most so I was going to buy him his own pack of chick thighs (on the bone)
Would this be okay for him?

I've never fed raw diets & know nothing about them for cats (have seen quite a bit on the forum for dogs though) so can't help pixiepops

Hey there,
I've been working on getting my cats onto raw too. My puppy eats raw, so I started with mixing some of the blood from her food into the cats normal food. First just a couple drops and over a month slowly increased it till they seemed to enjoy it. Then I started adding minuscule bits of raw meat mixed in with their food, again at first only a couple, super tiny so that they hardly notice it. I'm still working on it, it's a painfully slow process but eventually I aim to get them on full raw. Carlotta is the mostly sickly cat I've ever met haha, she vomits all the time and occasionally freaks me out with not eating or just looking frail haha, so raw seems like the best thing for her.
That's great if he already likes some raw chicken, would recommend trying again with the rest but however slow you were doing before, do it much slower and with much smaller pieces.

I had tried pretty much since he was a kitten, he was about 5 months old (maybe a little younger) when I started trying to make the move. He is now almost a year and a half and had no luck. He wont change to a full raw feed. I had been doing it the way you say are changing the cats over with the small introductions then over time putting more raw in and less cat food. He just seems to refuse to leave the kitty food behind. I ordered my shopping online tonight and I was buying fresh chicken thighs for me and my partner (as they are really nice with some bbq sauce lol) but I was thinking as Dexter can polish off a whole chicken fillet in a matter of minutes, I wonder how he would go about eating a chicken thigh as I heard that bone is also good for them and should be part of the diet. I just need to ensure there is no sharp bits

To me it was not right to feed raw, no idea why I thought that as it is what they would have if in the wild So with Dexter ive tried to go to raw feeding as not only does it have all the health benefits, no artificial stuff or ingredients added and the added bonus of it being cheaper, it was just the right move to make. Especially as he has a heart murmur.

Raw good is also essential some times for dogs and cats. What does that mean?
