Hi all.
It's been a while since I've come on here but I need some advice.
I have one cat called Casper. He's 5 years old and has always been an indoor cat and we've never had any other pets. We've recetly moved into a house with a lovely garden. He goes out into the garden under supervision and he really likes it. There has been another cat that has decided that it likes our garden and stays there practically all day. At first Casper didn't like her and she didn't like him as she always hissed at him. We fed here every now and again and she even curls up on our sofa in the evening whilst we watch tv. She is very affectionate. When she is in the living room, Casper is not in the room as we close the door.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, we stopped feeding her and leting her in as the owner told me she hardly sees her anymore which made me feel a bit bad. However, day after day she still appears in our garden without fail demanding to be let in or given some food and it broke my heart that O.H said I couldn't! I text the owner yesterday and asked if she had seen her cat and she said not really. I then asked her if we could take care of her instead and keep her and she agreed!
The situation so far is that when Casper and her are in the garden, Casper kinda ignores her now. She still hisses but he doesn't retaliate. I've tried to integrate them together by getting them to associate that seeing each other is a positive thing by playing with them and hoping Casper will join in, so far he hasn't but yesterday he did so that was a breakthrough. She is not yet "officially" mine, she still stays out in the garden and hasn't been in the house apart from the living room. I also give treats to each of them in the garden.
I wanted some advice as to how to introduce them properly without it being a disaster. I think I've done pretty well so far.Casper almost seems quite scared of her as she is quite dominant! I know that the house is Casper's territory so I really don't want to stress him out. He obviously can smell her scent in the living room but she hasn't been upstairs where "his space" is with all his toys.
Any advice with regards to feeding and bringing her into the house. Casper only really associates with with her being in the garden. Casper is 5 and she is 2. x

Welcome to the forum. I think you are doing all the right things to get Casper used to the new cat - it just has to be done gradually. Let the new cat further into the house a bit more each day - get her scent on a blanket and put it upstairs with Casper's things and see what he thinks. There will be a bit of hissing to start but I think they will be okay. Would love to see photos of them both - what is the new one called? Try feeding them in the same room but a distance apart and see what happens.

He never really has liked too much company, even with adults. This is why I didn't want a kitten, too much energy that he perhaps wouldn't be able to cope with. However, as he is quite a large cat he's had numerous occasions to maul her and he hasn't so I'm pretty glad about that! LOL. The owner calls her Nim Nims and I shall keep that name as it has grown on me and it suits her too. She has one green ey and one blue eye. I think she is sooooo pretty. I'm trying to attach pics but it's telling me that "This forum has exceeded its attachment space limit. Your file cannot be uploaded."..

You have to do photos from Photobucket or Flickr. scallywag or tonib are very good at explaining how - I think there are some instructions here somewhere. Love the cats name!
