Hi , my lovely hamster sunshine died on thurs , she was 2 and 4 months , I thought she had died of old age , but the night before I cleaned her cage and gave her a different food that a friend had given me from a hammy that had died , I've since looked at the bag and it expired feb 2013 , I'm so upset , I think I may have killed her ? She was fine the night before ?

Sorry for your loss Unfortunately unless you choose to have a post mortem done, you'll never know. 2 years and 4 months is a good age for a hamster, it most likely wasn't the food.

I don't think hamster food expires in the same way as human food - when you think the wild they would be eating rotten fruit, veg and even other rodents/animals that were rotting away.

Sorry to hear this.
I don't think it was the food, it may have been passed it's best but I'm sure it wouldn't have done this. It was probably old age.

Thank you guys , I can't stop thinking about it ! I'd hate to think she had a few more months of life and I finished her off early . She was such a sweet little thing , we loved her so much . Just wish I had stuck to her usual food . I thought it would make a change for her to have something different , thanks for your views x x
