Hello All,
I wonder if anyone can give me some advice, please. I have a wonderful Jack Russell pup age 8 months. I bought him from his breeders at the age of 15 weeks, took him to vets for vacc's etc., and followed all advice. Took him to vets puppy parties and that is where the problem started. He took a dislike to their tiled flooring. When he was ready I took him to my dog training club and, guess what, he hated the wooden floor. Everywhere that we have been that has a hard floor of any type he freezes. He is fine on all outdoor surfaces. Grass, concrete, tarmac, stones etc., are no problem at all.
I have taken up the mat in my kitchen and gradually enticed him in with very small bits of cheese and now he walks in and out and lays down without any problem. I don't talk to him or give him any other special encouragement. This took about two days to achieve.
However, the training hall and other hard floors are still a problem. he is a bit better in the hall as long as he can see and play with other dogs or puppies (age and size not a problem).
In every other way he is a perfect little dog, not yappy or snappy, very friendly with everyone (children, people and other animals), nothing else upsets him, he walks well on lead. sits and downs when asked, eats well, very enthusiastic and playful and has grown beautifully. He is a really super pet and I have been training with my other dogs for over twenty years without any problems so if anyone can point me in the right direction to help him overcome this I would be very grateful
