How about this?
"I knew I loved the man, but could I ever learn to love his dog? This was just one of the negative thoughts running through my head at 3am as I stood naked in his garden, acutely aware of the deep, rumbling growl of a dog somewhere very close by. I couldn't see her in the gloom, but I knew she was near enough to do some serious damage if I continued to advance."
This is the opening paragraph of Gwen Bailey's book "Hell on 4 Paws". Now Gwen Bailey is pretty hot on sorting freaked out dogs but this was a real challenge: the dog, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, belonged to her new man - and offered a hell of a lot of challenges both emotional and professional.
If you feel that your dog has a few problems (for the dog, and for you), perhaps you should read this fascinating and, it has to be said, entertaining book, to put YOUR problems into perspective.

Its quite an interesting starting paragraph to a book....
From that, I couldn't see how it could help solve dog problems, but then, that is only the opening paragraph.

From that, I couldn't see how it could help solve dog problems, but then, that is only the opening paragraph. The book is NOT designed to help anyone 'solve dog problems'! It is an account of Gwen Bailey's struggles and impressive achievements with her partner's astonishingly disturbed dog. And it si an entertaining read with a strong element of "thank goodness MY dog isn't like that!"

So? Why was she standing in the garden naked??? Gwen's dog, Spider, had awakened her, needing to toilet. She let Spider out, and her partner's newly arrived dog, Chesil, had charged out into the garden and disappeared, refusing to come back when called. So Gwen went looking - and Chesil started her threatening growling. Gwen did not expect to go outside herself, hence her lack of clothes: she only ventured out because Chesil had gone out and refused to return. HTH!!!!
