Well took missy to the vet as I don't feel things have improved. She listened to her heart and took her blood pressure - both fine. So she's been given a vit b12 shot and a steroid shot to boost her appetite and I've to bring her back in a fortnight for a weight check. I'm worried sick and just pray this kick starts her eating properly.

Has she stopped losing weight but just not put it on again? Hope the meds do the job of starting her eating again. How old is Georgia, @hearpawprints?

Well that's the question Tonib as she's a rescue. I've had her 6 years. Seems as though she's not lost any more so that's something. Vet has encouraged me to get her back on zylkene so we shall see. Getting her to take it in her food is one thing. May just administer the capsule

heartpawprints Have you tried the zylkene in something like Arden Grange Liver paste or Webbox Lick-e-Lix if she likes those. As its a powder it should mix in well. Luckily Lexie took it in her moist food when we had to give it to her.

Tonib thanks so much for the webbox suggestion. It was only day 1 yesterday but at least she licked it all up and the zylkene in it too! I'm thinking that we're starting to see some green shoots with her appetite as she was keen to have something to eat this morning. One thing that now seems a definite - she won't touch chicken. I think she's become allergic or else she's associated something with chicken in with her being sick and now that i think about it, she hasn't been sick at all since not eating chicken. Fingers crossed as they say....

Glad it worked heartpawprints. Penny got fed up of the Arden Grange so we've swapped to Lick-e-Lix & it just vanishes with the metacam in & the plate is policam as its shed. Not the best way to give Metacam as it makes the treat even more liquid but so long as it all goes anything helps. Sounds like Georgia is heading in the right direction with the eating. You could well be right about the chicken, hope that's the solution.

I remember someone on rizzoli and isles where korzac said about it being common for smaller animals being allergic to chicken. I bought her a new yeoww stinkie sardine and it came today as she was all over it. She seems a lot happier so at the moment I'm cautiously optimistic.

Thanks both. I'm just taking each day as it comes. At present, Georgia seems to be really happy and I'm convinced has started to fill out a bit so that's a positive upshoot of the situation. I was concerned for Ruppee who had been a Daddy's boy but he seems ok.

Sounds promising for Georgia & hope Ruppee continues to be OK. Its often forgotten that pets are affected by events in relationships/home surroundings as well as the humans involved. Hope the day at a time continues to work & things really get better for everyone.
