Heya, so Carlotta has never been 100% on litter box usage, often peeing elsewhere if it's not clean enough. However today she just used the litter box and has also peed on my mans desk within minutes of being in the box. I suspect she is scared to use the box after Rosa shoved her head in (she loooves cat poo). She won't go in the box if Rosa is near it and will quickly go elsewhere.
What can I do? I was going to get a wee puppy pen (the tiny ones) and put it around the box so that the dog can't get in, but I'm worried this would put the cats off using it, and my man is on the verge of telling me to get rid of Carlotta I think ("I can't have a cat that pees everywhere!"). She peed on his keyboard recently which had to get thrown out, and also peed into a box of an electronic grill we were borrowing off someone, we'll have to buy them a new one. She always lets me know where she's peed at least, but I need to fix this problem before my man completely loses it. Eek he's coming up the stairs now, will have to tell him about his desk...
I think if she didn't have the worry of the dog, she'd use it fine, but she's easily put off from using it and won't let me know she needs before going elsewhere. I can't think where to put it that the dog can't get to it really and that the cats will be comfortable using it. We're trying to train Rosa not to put her head in, but the reward for doing it is apparently super tasty and it's a lot to compete with haha. Even when there's none in there, she'll still have a look, much to the horror of the cats (understandably, if someone put their head up the toilet while I was using it, I'd never be able to use a toilet again!).

How many litter trays to you have? I was always told it should be 1 per cat plus 1. Also in different places - I know that could be difficult in a flat. Also are they covered or open trays?
I sympathise with the issue of cats peeing where they shouldn't, but in our case its been territorial marking or claiming a toy for their own or protest!

I sympathise with the issue of cats peeing where they shouldn't, but in our case its been territorial marking or claiming a toy for their own or protest! We've got two, the main one is covered, spare isn't (but is up high). The two cats happily wait for each other to finish first and seem to have a time share on the one in the hall haha, there's never been any problems with it. Added the second one today on my mans desk (he has been using my desk for months anyway!) as the dog can't get to it, but not planning on leaving it there. My neighbour suggested putting a cat flap in the bathroom door and putting the covered tray in there, as the dog wouldn't be able to get through and the cats like to sit in the bathtub in summer anyway to cool off (haha). Would that be really weird to have essentially a hole in the bathroom door? Haha! Would like to keep a tray in the bedroom too though, just don't know how to keep the dog out (seems to be the main issue, I've gotten very good at keeping it Carlotta-clean). Haha tonib Carlotta must be more pernickety than your cats, she would definitely never play with anything she'd peed on. She just rubs her face all over her favourite toys and cuddles them. She makes a big mound of stuff over anything she's peed on and paws around it miaowing until I clean it up unless it's in the litter tray. She seems to panic that she can't get enough stuff to cover up the smell, it makes it look like she's trying to clean it up. She usually uses my mans dirty socks first so she's going the right way to covering up the scent at least

The catflap is a good idea but not sure if your landlord would appreciate it.
The toys aren't necessarily played with its more a case of if one cat has one then Lexie marks it as hers in jealousy or territory!!
It does sound like Rosa is the issue so trying to find somewhere that she can't get to is a good idea - sorry no bright ideas but will keep thinking

We know a joiner, so I was thinking maybe he could cut a square out of the door and fit it there, and if we keep the square we can stick it back in afterwards and paint over it. I'm beginning to like this idea. I can get a black, non see through one with a lock thing so that when guests are over they can have their privacy. The only problem I can see is that Carlotta loves to jump on people's laps when they go to the loo and miaow in their face, while Mieze stands on the edge of the bath and just stares into their eyes. It's pretty much the only time Carlotta EVER goes on someone's lap willingly. I have creepy cats... Haha, aww mean Lexie! That's like when a kid has a drink and another kid spits in it to claim it (and ending up not wanting it themselves). Gross haha! My two back home aren't interested in toys (except the almighty laser pen) and the two here seem to have come to an agreement with certain toys and share the others. There is one feather on a stick toy that Mieze carries around with her (despite it seriously impeding her walking hahaha) but she lets Carlotta play with it too.
