I noticed that Blackberry was taking a long time to have a wee in the litter tray this morning and then she went again about 10 minutes later and again before I put her out in the pen. I have an appointment at the vets with Toffee at 9am tomorrow for him to have the second part of his booster so I phoned the vet and asked if I could take Blackberry along too. The receptionist said I could have an appoint at 9.30am for Blackberry so I've had to settle for that. She said the vet might let me in with both together when she sees I have the 2 cats with me, so fingers crossed. Blackberry hasn't had anything wrong with her since she was a kitten and she's now 9. How did it go lotsofcats ? did you manage to get both seen together ?

Toffee disappeared scallywag! I phoned the vet and they let me take Blackberry at 9am. She's got cystitis. She's had an antibiotic injection and some Metacam, a whole 3ml! I have to give her 0.45ml with her food each day. She kept posing on the weighing scales!

lotsofcats, Sorry to hear about Blackberry having to visit the vets & hope they did allow you to take in Toffee & her at the same time and can find out what her issue is. How come Toffee has to have a 2nd part to his booster? I've only had to have a 2 part vaccination when its a new vaccination rather than a booster due it being past the validity of the last booster/vaccination & have to start a new course. When I took Toffee 3 weeks ago the vet asked why I didn't have him vaccinated against leukaemia,so I did. Then she told me he'd have to have the second part 3 weeks later.

aah that explains it lotsofcats, just an additional type of vaccination. Mine have the feline leukaemia one , it was recommended when we first took a cat to the vet and apparently they only recommend it if there the disease in the area. It seems odd to think of leukaemia in cats being a virus! Poor Blackberry, I've never had a cat with that but I believe its rather uncomfortable. I hope she recovers soon. Lucky to get Metacam there is a worldwide supply problem, not sure if its just the 15ml bottle for cats which is what my repeat prescriptions are for but every online pharmacy is out of stock, some have the 30ml bottles. Apparently its an issue with the manufacture in Mexico, something to do with the documentation for the health manufacturing authorities there. Apparently it will start production again soon, I seem to remember October 4th mentioned but then it will need to be distributed worldwide - not going to be available quickly I suspect. Loxicom is still available in some places but i suspect that is limited as people swap from Metacam to Loxicom. Trust Toffee to disappear, its as if he knew. Hopefully you'll have seen him since & can get back to the vets soon.

How is blackberry getting in are the meds helping She is back to normal now spider, thank you. It's great to see her back to her normal happy self. I think the antibiotics did the trick. She was feeling quite sorry for herself. tonib - no wonder the vet only gave me 3ml of Metacam if there's such a shortage.

I don't know what to do about Toffee spider. I can't get to the vet anytime this week. My next vet visit is 2nd October with Kiba-Khan for a blood test regarding his heart problem and I couldn't carry both Toffee and Kiba-Khan and it's probably outside the time limit to get the 2nd part of the vaccination then. It's a miracle to be able to park outside the vets, there's only 6 spaces. It's a good walk from the car park around the corner - bad enough with one heavy cat. I'll just have to hope it's okay with the one part of the leukemia vaccination - the vet didn't even mention it. Mind you, she got a bit confused and stated that Blackberry had lost lots of weight from over 6kg down to 4.6kg and then realised she was looking at Toffee's record!!

I was getting a bit worried about Kiba-Khan as he hasn't used the litter tray in the house for a poo for well over a week and I wasn't sure if he'd been in the litter trays in the cat pen. I told hubby I was worried and he said that he'd had to clear some large deposits out from the litter trays in the cat pen a few times and didn't think to tell me. I'd been given Kiba-Khan extra lactulose to see if that shifted things along! Yesterday when I came home from work he'd done a pile in the cat pen so I was happy all seems well at the moment. Don't know why he favours the outside litter trays.

He was trying to worry u I guess it must be hard for people that have outdoor cats to keep an eye in toilet department hers a one boomsey will.walj.down to the toilet and look back if I'm looking.that direction he won't go in and then he seems to forget to go so I have to walk him down and tell him toilet and in he goes are all cats as forgetful as that it's not new he has always been like that

I think you've hit the nail on the head there spider - cats don't like being watched when they go to the litter tray. As you can imagine, I've been a bit paranoid lately and as soon as Kiba-Khan goes anywhere near a litter tray I'm there!

Judging by the big pile that Kiba-Khan did in the cat pen litter tray this morning before I went to work he doesn't have a problem.
