A friends dog is having her first season. How long does it last for?

I think usually three weeks, but I don't know if breed or anything affects it or not.

Thanks smilesbetter. The friend who is going to look after Jasper when we go away has a Patterdale bitch and is having her first season. I really hope she's finished by the time we go.

21 days roughly, but all dogs are different really! No more than 28 days though.

cazypops you can get dog nappies and things now, might offer her a wee bit of protection from his advances if she's still in heat haha. Hope it's gone though, wouldn't be very fun for either dog. He'll have a fantastic time sniffing and hunting around when she's done though as I'm sure the scent will still be there. He'll probably have his nose to the ground the entire time! I'm not particularly looking forward to Rosas first season, eek...

Thanks she came on heat last week, and we go away in two weeks. Don't know what to do now.

The OH took him over tonight and he said the noise they were both making drove them mad and he's not sure that his mate will be able to cope with them both for the weekend.
