Hello! So, Rosa's lead training has been going quite well and I treat every single walk as a training session. She's great! However we still need to say out version if "heel" quite a bit, she's only 18 weeks so she doesn't have the best attention span after all. However my man has her on a tighter lead usually and is always in a hurry to get to the park or something, and now I've broken my ankle and can't walk her so not only will he be doing almost all the walking, but friends who she just tugs the entire time for will be doing it too. No one else has ever listened to me and had the patience to get places by doing lead training on the way, and I'm scared her lead training which I've spent a huge amount of time on it going to go completely down the drain! She's a collie/Icelandic sheepdog cross (mainly Icelandic Sheepdog) and I've seen a few border collies around Berlin and they're the only dog breed I've seen here never off the lead and always pulling. I don't want a lifetime of horrible tuggy walks with her and she'd been doing so well. What can I do?

That's a shame, sadly if the walkers wont respect your wishes then you will just have to go with it and then start all over again when you are able ( shes a pup, so shouldn't take too long, specially if there is a tasty treat at the end of her nose ) OR Rosa doesn't get her walk. You are lucky I had no one able to take Beau for his walks when I broke my wrist last July. He had to make do with lots of ball chasing in the garden, but lucky for me the garden is big too Wish you well and good luck :smilesbetter

Thanks scallywag ! I broke my wrist last year too and was thinking the broken ankle would be much better as I can still do a lot of stuff (washing hair with a broken wrist was super hard, I could hardly even cook!) but the dog walking thing is gutting!

Sorry to hear about your ankle. Hope it heals quickly.
Training people is far harder than training dogs - ask any professional dog trainer. LOL. What I have done in the past - put a harness on the dogs and let them pull. Then taught them if the lead is attached to their collar, no pulling will be allowed. That way the uninitiated such as your man or friend won't get frustrated by your rules and you still can teach your dog to walk nicely.
Give up training your man but never give up on the dog. Hope you're not getting too bored sitting on yer .... all day. LOL.
