Hi I'm Julie. Last week i found a very weak and skinny kitten in a local supermarket car park, wandering between moving cars. I picked her up and after looking around for the mother or any other kittens (with no luck) I took the kitten home to feed. After a visit to the vet it was confirmed it was a girl around 5-6 weeks old - my Disney mad 4 year old daughter named her Elsa! And so that's it! Iv never owned a cat before, but have fallen totally in love with her. She's thriving, friendly and very much attached to me! I have no idea what I'm doing but have had great advice from the vet regarding immunisations etc so she's all booked in. I feel so cruel that she's not with her mummy though but have had no luck in locating her X

Well done elsasmum in rescuing the kitten & welcome to the forum Don't hesitate to ask us anything you need to know whether cat or forum related We'll do our best to help. I'm Toni with 4 rescue cats but have never had a kitten so not the best person to help with that but others are. Sounds like your daughter has fallen for Elsa as well as you Julie, welcome to the world of being servant to a cat! Glad you've taken her to the vet who would have checked her over for any fleas & advised on feeding her at that age, especially if she needed building up. By the sound of it she may well have been away from mum for a while if she was weak & skinny so its not surprising you couldn't find her.

Well done to you for rescuing the kitten. Seems to me that someone just dumped it there (cruel people, the poor thing could have got run over). I'm Jenny and I have 7 cats and 2 dogs, and lots of experience with kittens too - my cat Kali(ex-stray) had a litter of kittens almost 3 years ago and I kept 2 of them. I will try to answer any questions you have regarding Elsa. There are lots of people on here who will gladly give you advice. Congratulations on becoming a cat owner - you will wonder why you never had one before! Hopefully we can see some pics soon.

Hi all! Thanks for your lovely comments! I have no idea how to put photos on ha but she is very very cute. Little black and white beautiful thing. Getting to know her better every day. I have a concern though I found her on the Thursday but, as me and my husband were getting married in Friday, my friend took care of her for two nights. I picked her back up on the Saturday and have cared for her since but now we have the issue of our honeymoon! A friend has offered to have her for the week (next week) but I hate the thought of leaving AGAIN so young! I would appreciate some advice on how I could make the while thing less stressful for her as I don't want her to think she's being abandoned yet again! X

Congratulations on your wedding & hope you have a lovely honeymoon. I'm sure Elsa will be OK with your friend but would suggest she goes with familiar things (bedding/toys) & something with your scent on - say a worn (& not washed) t-shirt or the like. Oh & of course her litter tray & litter (if she's used to using one already) & the food that she has. As to photos have a look at our help/faq index yourpetforums.co.uk/post/13410 & dont be shy about asking for help, but I suspect you're going to have too much to do in the short term

Ok so this kitten is driving me crazy! I can cope with everything except it's litter tray habits at the moment... It uses it every time with no little 'accidents' anywhere else but when it has a poo it tries to bury it but ends up standing in it and trailing it through the house I now have to catch Elsa before she leaves the tray to be able to clean her feet! Is this normal for a kitten and how long does it last? Is there anything I can do to stop it happening? Help! X

Enjoy your honeymoon - I'm sure little Elsa will be okay with your friend - plenty of time for her to settle down with you properly when you get back.
With reference to her litter tray habits..........are you using a litter tray with a hood on? I had this problem with some of my cats so I took the hood off. If you are not using a litter tray with a hood the only thing you can do is keep trying to catch Elsa while she's using the tray and encourage her to dig a bigger hole and then help her cover it up before she stands in it. It's all new to her so she will probably get better at it soon, bless her.

We have a litter mat under the litter trays - its big enough to extend past the tray (some sizes are just put in front of the tray). It's intended to stop litter being carried far but may well do the trick for you or at least limit the spread whilst she learns to use the tray properly. All our cats were litter trained before we got them as they were all adults so no experience of litter training a cat.

Hey! It's going well she's definitely getting there. I have changed to a different cat litter too, and tried the pads which work a treat so thankyou for your advice. Elsa is such a princess. So affectionate and gentle, I love her naps on me (I never thought I would see the day I was a cat lover!) Today I took her to see my friend who will be taking care of her while I'm away on honeymoon...I can tell she's going to be very spoilt! She had a great time and played lovely with her so hopefully when i take her on friday she will be more familiar with the surroundings and it won't be such a shock to her little system. I will eventually work out how to upload a photo for you all How is everyone? Xx

:DGlad all is going well for you and also for elsa. You will need an external provider like Photo bucket to load photos. It is easy to use, and Free too, do you have an account with anyone like that ? Flicker is another one used on here by others, but I personally prefer PB. look forward to seeing Elsa
