Gorgeous pic of Beau scallywag. He's giving you that look "What are you looking at me like that for?". Great job you've done on Riley chantel. Hopefully the groomers will be open soon and he can have his feet done. No the groomers have permanently closed and will not be reopened due to the third lock down lotsofcats so thatβs why Iβv invested in some tools to do them both at home .

https://www.instagram.com/p/CN25-QChLLL The insta post has an explanation, but I'll say it here anyway, lol. Three weeks ago, Pepper was passing blood when she was peeing. Vets gave us antibiotics, which cleared it up. But on Saturday - exactly a week after her antibiotics finished - she was passing blood again. So off to the vets we went. She had a blood test and an ultrasound, which was inconclusive due to her bladder being empty (blood test was clear). She went back today for x-rays because the vet suspected bladder stones. X-rays and another ultrasound were both clear and didn't show any signs of stones, so that's good. It points more to a UTI than anything else, I think. A urine sample was taken directly from her bladder and that's been sent away for testing, so we have to wait for those results to come back so that we know what kind of antibiotics/treatment we need. She's absolutely fine in herself, you wouldn't even know anything is wrong. A coincidental finding of the x-ray was that her hips are so bad that it's like she doesn't have hips. The vet was surprised, I was not, lol. We've known for years that her hips are awful, even without ever having x-rays. She also has spondylosis of the spine, which is likely related to the hips. I think the vet was surprised because of how mobile and active she is, despite how bad her hips are, so it's nice to know we've done something right with her.

Poor Pepper orpheous87. I hope that the vets can get to the bottom of her problems. Amazing that she carries on being active with her hips being that bad. Bramble, my oldest cat, had the same problems with blood in her urine and she also had the urine sample taken direct from her bladder. She still continues to have blood in her urine when I have it tested but she doesn't seem to be unwell in herself so I just leave it at that. The vet gives her an antibiotic injection now and again just in case she has an infection.

Thank you all. Honestly, if you saw how she runs around the house, you wouldn't believe how bad her hips are. You only really notice when you're drying her with a towel and you feel/hear her hips cracking. She runs, she jumps, she wrestles lol. I think we did it right when she was younger by changing her diet and getting her to lose weight, and she's had regular hydrotherapy since then too. Whenever I've spoken to the vet about her hips in the past, they've always encouraged us to keep walking her for longer distances providing she wants to go so that's helped too.
In terms of her bladder/urine issue, I think we're keeping our fingers crossed that the results confirm the kind of bacteria that's causing an infection so we can get the right antibiotics to get rid of it. Picking her up from the vets yesterday, there wasn't even a sign she'd been anaesthetised. She was quite happy, walking about with the vets and nurses lol. And the picture doesn't show how bald her belly is! It's a good job the weather is getting warmer lol.

orpheous87 I hope when you get the results back it's something that is easily treatable. I have the same worry with Jaspers hips, and like you we let him go for as long as he's comfy with. Every now and then we give him some Metacam if he's looking stiff, but like Pepper you'd never know there was anything wrong with him when you see him running around.

cazypops We've never been given metacam for her. We've had loxicom/meloxicom a few times over the years, but nothing more. I can only trust the vets that they don't think she needs the stronger stuff! I've got some Boswellia coming tomorrow which I'm planning to give her to try and keep away from the traditional medication as long as possible. Our fingers are definitely crossed for something that's easily treatable. The good news is I've not seen any blood in her urine since she came home from the vets but I don't know if that means everything is sorted or not! We were given meloxicom for her on Saturday, but I have no idea how long I'm supposed to be giving it for. I forgot to ask when we picked her up so I'll have to try and remember next time I speak to them. Bless Jasper. Does he still get the cartrophen injections? Do they do the same thing as metacam?

Fingers crossed Pepper stays stable now and everything is sorted. Yes Jasper still has the Catrophen every 6 month, in fact I need to remember to ring the vets and get him booked in for his next jab in May. I'm not entirely sure exactly how it works but it dose something to the ball and socket to help smooth it. gypsy once sent me an info link on it, but what ever it does it works for Jasp. He's been on it now for 8 years. He also get Yumove once a day too. I didn't know that Metacam was stronger than Loxicom. I understood that they were the same drug just a different name.
