It's not his day!
Having been let out after his enforced stay indoors yesterday & last night due to the weather he wandered off. I was upstairs when I heard some cat miaowwing outside but no trace of a cat when I went out & looked, nothing registered for the loc8tor for neither him nor Roman. A bit later he came in & had some food watched by Lexie. When I eventually heard someone get down from the feeding station there was no sign of him but a Lexie was licking her lips!!! Then I saw a spot of blood on the floor about the size of 5/10p piece. Hadn't heard any barney indoors. Couldn't find anything on Lexie & no trace of Osiris or Roman.
Later I went to have a shower & found Roman & Osiris on our bed snoozing but aware of me. There was a bit of a crashing noise & Osiris was jumpy & moved across the bed stomach low. Didn't think he was quite right & also realised his collar was missing. As soon as I went to touch him he ran off & out again. I eventually found Osiris out front & was able to tempt him with some chicken & caught him having made sure that he couldn't get out again. He settled upstairs again on our windowsill & let me stroke him. Couldn't feel anything but after giving him another bit of chicken I realised I'd got bloody fingers, this was at least 3-4 hours after I found the spot on the floor! Still couldn't find anything but he was wary of his mouth so wondered if his gum were bleeding.
Rang the vet & got an appointment this evening. Wasn't much help to the vet and he couldn't find anything at first even checking his gums & saying that he needed dental work again. After further feeling around he came up with bloody fingers. Osiris had an open cut on his face below his lower lip on the side. It wasn't easily visible due to his markings.
The vet tried to clean it but Osiris became rather agitated, I warned the vet about his claws just in time as he became a bit aggressive despite being scruffed. This is a branch surgery, no nurses to help. Osiris gave a couple of very loud cry/growl & hiss with his claws out as the vet tried to clean the wound. At this point the vet decided that discretion was the better part of valour - I don't blame him. He wa given the usual injection & sent home with antibiotics & also to have some of the Loxicom we had already. When he's calmer we can tray & clean it & remove any scabs. If it becomes inflamed/swollen then we're to take Osiris back & they'll clean it under anaesthetics & do his teeth at the same time. The vet thinks he's been bitten by another cat. Odd Osiris doesn't usually get that close, just makes a lot of noise from a distance.
End result Osiris is incarcerated for 3-4 days & 5 days of antibiotics & anti-inflammatories. He will not be happy!!! Especially when he gets booked in for his dental work in a few weeks time!
We found his collar in 2 doors down back garden - the loc8tor worked. No obvious reason why he should lose it - the safety catch had worked - and nothing around that could harm him as far as I could see in the poor light. So goodness knows what happened, maybe I'll see one of the local cats also beaten up - then we will know!
