Could anyone suggest what I could put on cracked paws, please?
The pad on back of Tillys leg (sorry, don't know what it is called) is abit split, which there is some mud and a blade of grass in it. When I was asking her to give me her paw, she gave me her paw and when I went to hold it, she did a quiet yelp, so I did the checks for looking for stones, ECT. in between her paw pads and cuts on her pads, though there was nothing. She hasn't been limping at all, so I was wondering what caused her to yelp.. I checked her paws again and noticed the pad further up and when I was trying to remove the blade of grass, she was trying to pull her paw away.
I have noticed she's been licking her one paw, but can't remember which, though it must have been the sore paw pad. She freaked out at some bird scarers going off in the distance on our walk today, and went flat on the ground and was trying to pull away, so she must have made it worse then bectil

When we get dogs in at work that have cuts we clean it with warm water to flush the wounding keep it clean. My friend also puts a bit of salt in the water to stop infection. Is it cut badly? Could you bandage it to keep it dry and clean? I know for cracked pads, Vaseline is often advised but I'm not sure whether this would be a good idea with an open wound.
I'm sure someone with better health knowledge will be able to help lol

Maybe you could apply some sort of anti bacterial cream after you have cleaned it to make sure that there is no infection. Also make sure that you bandage the area so that she doesn't infect the cut by licking it. Check on it daily to see whether it's getting any better and change the bandage if it's dirty.

We have a spray at work called HypoCare by HorseWare that helps viral/bacterial/fungal infections but also can be used on wounds to keep them infection free. Could be worth a look

I'd use specialist wound powder or salt water if it is an open wound. And a boot to stop it from touching the ground for a while. I make sure I clip out the fur in between my girls pads, to stop matting, and excess mud/water in the house. I also rub Vaseline or paw wax on their paw pads occasionally. It keeps them crack-free without being too soft

I would say keep it nice and clean to stop anything infecting it.

Thankyou everyone for your help and advice (and sorry that this is a very late reply!). It turned out to be a very tiny cut, which has now healed I will have a look for some paw wax - Thanks again! bectil
