Hello everyone, this is Connie's "Mum".
I'm afraid today is a very very sad day for us.
Last night, Connie lost the use of her back legs and she didn't eat her dinner. This morning, unfortunately, her back legs still weren't working so we took the unbelievably hard decision to take her to the vet so she is now asleep.
Connie was a fighter. She has arthritis in her knees since she was two years old but that never stopped her, she put up a fight up until last night, unfortunately that one she couldn't win. She had been slowing down a lot so we knew the day would come but it doesn't make it any easier. She was 14 years and 7 months!!
No doubt she's now chasing wabbits with her brother Cobra who went to sleep on 30th December last year.
Both Connie and Cobra had a great (long) life and brought so much joy.
They were the best.
Night night Connie Baby xxx

Oh so sad Connie's mum, tears here, R.I.P Connie, out of pain now, and as your mum said re united with your brother having fun again . As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played, I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade. I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide! And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be! My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night. 'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be, We are still connected by a cord no eye can see. So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart

Oh no, how sad, that was a shock for me to read this. R.I.P lovely girl Connie, have a wonderful afterlife. You gave her the best life you could and cared for her so well I am sure of that, and made the kindest decision you could for her. Be proud of that and let Connie and Cobra live on in your heart and soul for the rest of your life, and afterlife… xxx

conniecobra, so sorry to read about Connie. I remember "her" posts on the forum earlier this year Its a difficult decision to be make but is the last act of love we can make for our pets. She will be at Rainbow Bridge with Cobra & making new friends with all the others who have gone before, thanking you for being brave enough to let her go but will be forever in your memories. RIP Connie

So sorry to hear about Connie. I have always been told that anything over 12 yrs is a bonus with our beloved golden breed. I dread the day I am faced with what you have had to do, I am unsure I will be as strong as you have been. I hope in time you are able to remember the happy times, they do tend to leave lots of golden memories and always steal a large part of your heart.
