At the moment, I am trying to teach Hoddy to do a heelwork to music routine but we have hit a snag. Quite simply, she won't train properly in the house or garden.
I can teach her new tricks in the house or garden perfectly fine. I can take her outside to any nearby fields and put them together to make a routine, and we do fine with that as well. Out of the house she will work for a toy reward, be it a tug rope, tennis ball or ring, or any food. Inside though, it's like she doesn't want to know.
We have wooden floors, so I try to limit the tricks that involve jumping around or that might cause her to slip. She doesn't show any interest in a toy for longer than a few seconds and no matter what the food reward, even fresh chicken, she just isn't interested. I've tried taking her back to the basics, and using a high reward to command ratio, but nothing has changed her attitude. She will learn new things, but as soon as I ask for her to link them to others, she shuts down. It didn't used to be too much of an issue but now Ive started college and don't have enough daylight in the evenings to take her out to practise, I'd really like to be able to train her in the house and for her to enjoy making up routines like she does when we are out on our walks. Any ideas?

Have you got a riding stables nearby with an indoor school? Would prob let you borrow it for an hour if they have no lessons. They might want Hoddy to stay on a long line though.
