A local lockdown is starting in Newport County as from tomorrow - that's 10 miles from where I live. The university students will all have just started the new year there.

I think there's going to be a briefing from Boris tomorrow too, so the rest of the country might follow soon enough.

I am, yes tonib. No socialising with people from outside our households or support bubbles. It's a bit annoying that we're included, to be honest, because the number of cases in County Durham is nowhere near the numbers from South Tyneside and Sunderland. But the council asked for it, and have been given it so we have to go along with it until told otherwise. The guidelines say we can travel in and out of the county though, but then apparently the pubs in Darlington (next town over) have all been given instructions to request proof of address and won't allow anyone from the restricted areas in - not sure if this is because they're exempt from the lockdown and so the pubs can remain open after 10pm where ours have to close or not. orpheous87, Blackpool is exempt from the Lancashire restrictions (its a unitary council) & is concerned that people from Lancashire will come to their pubs the same as Darlington, don't know if they're going to check address, the issue is of course is that Blackpool is a holiday resort so will have visitors from all sorts of places. Yes tonib, we are in the same boat as you from Tuesday. It's a shame really as we have only just got to see OH's Mum Dad and Sister. That is a shame cazypops I think there's going to be a briefing from Boris tomorrow too, so the rest of the country might follow soon enough. there's already been a change for England as all pubs etc will close at 10pm & only have table service from Thursday & there maybe more to come. I was wondering if the 4 new areas in Wales wee near or even involved you lotsofcats

Whatever will you do with all of that scallywag? You might as well laugh about it as it's enough to make you cry otherwise!

What doesn't make sense to me is that people can go between here and Darlington for work purposes, but then there's the issue of the pubs on a night. It was all very confusing, although since the new restrictions have been announced today it's not quite as confusing lol. We're all pretty much in the same boat now.

I keep the bird food for the bird feeders in a cupboard and it is next to the cat food. I got the suet pellets out and as I did I heard a funny noise - before I registered what it was, too late - the bag of mealworms hadn't been sealed properly and it tipped upside down and all the mealworms were all over the cat food in the cupboard. It took me ages to get all the cat food out and then sweep up the mealworms. It was awkward because it's a corner cupboard. The air was blue!

Feel absolutely awful this evening... I noticed last night that Ziggy had a flea on her, so this afternoon my housemate suggested a few drops of tea tree oil on her fur to deter them(as that’s what her mum uses on her cats) before the frontline turned up on Monday...a few hours later I looked it up and of course found tea tree oil to be toxic to cats, so had a panicky trip to the vets and they checked her over and are happy that she’s fine as it was only a few drops and her bloods, stomach, and gums are normal and she is eating and drinking fine, so it seems like she hasn’t ingested it. She has to wear a cone for the rest of the evening so she is miserable, and I feel like a terrible fur parent for not checking before I applied it not sure how to encourage her to drink like the vet said when she won’t even move whilst wearing the cone, poor thing

Aw Weims, don't feel too bad! If someone is going to recommend it, then why would you doubt it? Sounds like your housemate's mum has been lucky with her cats! Hopefully, Ziggy will get used to the cone quickly, bless her.

Do you have something like an ear dropper , when Beau wasnt drinking I bought one from pharmacy , and placed it in the corner of his mouth often and kept him hydrated that way , its so small its not intrusive

Weims if you need to dilute the teatree oil you can use a plain oil like veg oil or olive oil, this is what we recommend if a human client has a reaction to an essential oil. Hope she's ok today.
