I have a couple of things to say about this.
Firstly, puppypal, it is an incredible achievement that you got to Crufts with Barley. You had a good day there and he behaved himself! You can't have asked for any more from him, he showed himself off perfectly. I'm not sure that you should be trying to place blame on anything and anyone for the fact that you didn't win.
Getting another dog won't automatically make you win, and won't solve the problem of your nerves.
You really need to stop with this attitude of 'everything will be better once I have my new dog'
Anyway I don't want to get into an argument about that.
You need to CHILL OUT and ENJOY Barley! They don't live forever and one day you might look back and realise how silly it was not to just spend time with him and enjoy his company!
You will lose over and over and over again in your life. That's just a fact of life. Understanding and accepting that fact, and being able to lose graciously is all part of growing up, and trust me, you REALLY can't afford to cry over every drop of spilt milk.
The show world is bitchy, cliquey, sometimes unfair but can be a lot of fun if you can take not being placed every time! I got to Crufts with Monty and I didn't place, but I never thought too much about it or wondered whose fault it was or got angry at anyone. I'm lucky that our breeder has remained a close friend and offered a LOT of advice and support. They really drilled it into me that the judge you get really determines which dogs will do well, and that sometimes, it's just not your day and it's nobody's fault and you just have to get over it.
Stop being so silly, you got to Crufts and that's a great achievement!! Honestly.

I am sorry Puppypal but I have to agree with everything PFT has sid here. This is a terrible attitude to have about yourself but mainly towards and about Barley. Barley is YOUR dog, not a show tool. I don't mean this in a nasty way either, but sometimes I have lost my temper with Charlie and thought to myself 'I wish I had another dog that I could train properly' - but really, that was just times when I was either being a hormonal bitch or I was just young and thought that Charlie would learn straight away with anything I taught him (I got him from his breeder when I was 6 years old and he was 7 weeks, I didn't start trick training him until he was about 1 and over). Shows are FUN!!! You got to Crufts man? I couldn't even go to watch live even though I wanted to, never mind getting to Crufts with either Charlie or Roman! You done fantastically well and so did Barley, you didn't win, there is always next year? Or the year after? Keep trying because if you lost at everything and then ended up like this and in this mental kind of state then you're not going to be getting anywhere in your life or full-fill your dreams! That would be an awful shame - especially for Barley too as he is a stunning dog! PP, I knew that Barley was a hybrid of all sorts and when you first joined the forum I was told he was a Heinz 57 but the breeds which he mainly has in him are Pyrenean Mountain Dog and some sort of Retriever! Also PFT, I never knew that you got to Crufts with Monty, well done!!

I know it was a big achivment for him to get to crufts but it is unlikly that he will ever have a chance to go for the scruffts title again, his photo is on the scruffts advertising flyers not beckys. the scruffts title is for the scruffts family crossbreed dog of the year becky was got just for the sake of getting a dog barley was got for a reason to help me family dog barley came into our family for a reason and he has proved that so many timesbn that he is always there for me even when my parents are not, my mum did not belive that barley could win and wanted either becky or rascal to win not barley and me, her daughter she did not belive in my and did not belive in my at the scruffts semi final she wanted other dogs to win, you dont know how this makes me feel not being encouraged and supported by your own parents, i have been through so much with that dog and he has helped me in so many ways that it is undescribable and he is a family dog and my best friend, so why could the judge not see that other than going for beccky becuase she looks like me and is a golden oldie( wrong she was pretiest bitch)

you dont know how this makes me feel not being encouraged and supported by your own parents I do know how this feels, and have had to move out of my house to get over it, so I have sympathy for you in that sense. Why did your mum not support you going to Crufts? Whatever the reason, that's her problem and not in any way your fault. I had wondered if perhaps your parents hadn't been as supportive as they should have been. It IS a tremendous achievement to reach Crufts, and you should be extremely proud of yourself and not feel as if you have failed. Someone else said this, but out of ALL those dogs in the qualifying rounds for Crufts, Barley won out and ONLY at the very last stage did you not win. That is not any cause for sadness and giving up, but should make you want to try again! LOADS of people don't reach Crufts til they're in their forties! Loads of people go every year and only place every few years. You both did extremely well and tell your mum that her attitude to you and Barley is affecting your confidence. She is obviously blind to who the best dog/handler is!

SO WHAT IF BECKY WAS GOTTEN FOR THE SAKE OF GETTING A DOG, THAT IS WHY MOST PEOPLE GET A DOG! ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY THAT BECKY IS NOT A 'FAMILY DOG'? WHY DON'T YOU GIVE US THE DEFINITION FOR A 'FAMILY DOG' AND THEN TELL US HOW BECKY IS NOT ONE. DO YOU KNOW BECKY AND HER OWNERS PERSONALLY OUTSIDE OF CRUFTS THAT LET YOU SAY THESE KIND OF THINGS? YOU'RE ALWAYS SAYING THAT BARELY IS LOVED BY YOUR FAMILY AND HE IS YOUR BEST FRIEND BUT I HAVE YET TO SEE IT IN YOUR POSTS. YOUR DAD DOESN'T THINK HE NEEDS TO GO TO THE VET DESPITE BITING AND SCRATCHING HIS SKIN TO THE POINT OF BLEEDING AND YOU JUST SAID HERE THAT YOU DON'T THINK THAT HE WILL EVER MAKE IT TO CRUFTS AGAIN, SO MUCH FRIENDSHIP THERE, DON'T YOU THINK? YES I DO KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE TO GET NO SUPPORT FROM YOUR PARENTS, I'VE BEEN THERE DONE THAT AND GOT THE BADGE TO PROVE IT BUT DO YOU SEE ME USING IT AS AN EXCUSE TO ACT LIKE YOU ARE, NO! I CAN BE A BAD LOSER SOMETIMES AND I KNOW LOTS OF OTHERS WHO CAN BE TOO, BUT YOU SEEM TO BE TAKING THIS WAY OVER THE TOP. DOG SHOWS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FUN, WHETHER YOU WIN OR LOSE, BUT CLEARLY FOR YOU THEY ARE NOT. SO I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD TAKE UP SOMETHING ELSE THAT ISN'T SO COMPETITIVE, THEN MAYBE YOU MIGHT FEEL PROUD ENOUGH TO ONE DAY SAY THAT YOU WENT TO CRUFTS WITH BARLEY, A CROSSBREED, AND THAT EVEN THOUGH YOU DIDN'T WIN YOU WERE VERY HAPPY TO GET THERE. GET OF YOUR HIGH HORSE, STOP COMPLAINING, STOP MAKING ACCUSATIONS ABOUT THE OTHER COMPETITORS AND DEAL WITH IT! AND FOR THOSE THAT THINK I AM BEING MEAN OR HARSH. I AM NOT GOING TO APOLOGISE FOR IT BECAUSE I AM FED UP OF IT AT THIS POINT. YOU MAY THINK WHAT YOU LIKE ABOUT ME, BUT I'M UNDER NO ILLUSION THAT THERE ARE GOING TO BE OTHERS THAT FEEL WHAT I FEEL ABOUT THIS. I'm done now, goodbye.

Bextull, whilst I am in TOTAL agreement with what you say in your last post, I find your opening exclamation offensive and distasteful and it does not, in my opinion, do you or your views any credit. Such language is surely inappropriate on this (or, perhaps, any) forum.
25 minutes later: I am pleased to note that the offensive language has been edited out of your post by 'Your Pet'.

I have said what i needed yo say and will no longer be participating in this thread as it wont do me, or anybody else, any good

I luckily didn't see the post with all the foul language on. I think Puppyal made this thread for encouragement and a bit of attention of how well she done but most of all for advice bextull?
Everyone is always arguing and being offensive to each other on this new forum, it is really getting to me now, and foul language does NOT in any way, shape or form HELP! For god sake, no wonder half the members have left!
PP, you're doing very well, and your parents should be supporting you!
Bextull, puppypal clearly loves Barley with all her heart! Bextull you're going on about how PP is making accusations about Becky and her owner and you're doing it yourself towards puppypal!
Always here for support and encouragement Puppypal, also a friend! x
Sorry bextull, don't mean to nag at you but I think there was no need for the post above!

akitalover, perhaps not the best idea to tell everyone what Puppypal PMed you. She obviously said it in a PM and not publicly to keep it just between the two of you, and maybe you should have asked her before announcing it on the forum.

I agree Tillytubbie!!! Sorry to everyone if anything I have said has been offensive or harsh, I may post on this thread or I may not, it would probably be good if no one did to be fair!

Congratulations on getting to the final Puppypal, an amazing achievement for someone so young and I'm sure over the years you will build your character on such experiences like this and forge a brilliant showing/handling/training career for yourself. Sometimes it is easy to forget perspective in life and how you manage composure in loss is equally, if not more, important than the win. Give Barley a hug, take the pressure off yourself and go back to basics. That is my advice (for what it's worth!). Put the enjoyment back in the dog activities you do.
Sorry if others might have something else to add, but as this is derailing and involves younger members of the forum, I think it's best the thread is closed.
