Hello, just an update on Merlin. Took him on Friday to see the vet, she confirmed that he was definately blind. He had an appetite injection and a steriod injection. He came home and ate for England. Saturday he seemed much better. He has been jumping on the sofa and the bed. He has also seen the laser pointer I have which i ran up the wall. He has not walked into anything at all. He even jumped onto the back of the sofa yesterday. I am not convinced he is blind. He has also been on a mission to get out all weekend. Thanks everyone for your kind words, its such a worry! if only they could tell you. xxxx

jasmin12 that's good and thanks for the update, I know you must have more pressing issues to deal with ? So did you go to a different Vets ? And is that all that's wrong, he was distressed because he couldn't see ? Glad that is all it is and hope he stays perked up x

Hi, I took him to the same vet (not taking any of my pets again to them though). She was so wishy washy but he is soooo much better. I am convinced he can see (not fully i dont think) and I am sure he had a seizure of some sort. Time will tell. x

Thanks for the update - so pleased that Merlin is eating and is now improving. Hopefully, it is only a temporary blindness. Don't let him out until you can be sure he can see properly.

Hi, he isn't going anywhere. Apart from the cotton wool ball test and other little things i do, im not sure how to actually tell. Might give it till the end of the week (if he hasnt driven me mad) and take him to another vet for their opinion. x

So glad Merlin has improved.
Like others have said don't let him out until you're really sure he can see well. Cats are very good at spatial awareness & get used to where things are, so his eyesight may not be good but he has become more confident in his surroundings.
Which ever way it is he sounds well on his way to getting better or coping with reduced eyesight.
We'd love to hear more of how he gets on.
Edit: Sorry hadn't seen your response to lotsofcats as we posted very close together. I've no idea what tests to do, the best advisors are the vets. Good luck.
