Lately Milo has been acting up, he's gone from his well mannered usual self to a crazy lunatic!! Usually when I walk through the door he'll run over all excited maybe jump up once and then calm down but lately he has been going nuts when anybody comes in, he dives all over them frantically licking their faces, also when we're out walking he will not walk nicely on his lead, just plough forward and when I try to correct the behaviour he just ignores me and carries on, he wont listen any more unless I have food! It can't be adolescence because he is 4 years old, I just don't have a clue why he's acting this way, on walks when off lead he is still perfectly behaved, it's just on lead and in the house he start miss behaving, does anybody have any advice?? Thankyou in advance

Sorry miloooox can't advise you but what I can say is I have a dog that does exactly the same as regards going crazy when my OH comes home, or family visit, so I sympathise with you. Hope you can get to the bottom of it x

Thankyou scallywag, you'd think he had been abandoned for weeks the way he acts when someone comes to the house!!!

Just a thought, but has he been getting less exercise now that the evenings are darker?

Does your mums boyfriend continue with Milos training? If not, then Milo might think he could push his luck with you.

Just what I was thinking bectil if the boyfriend is allowing him to pull ahead on the lead, then he needs to follow how you do it, whats that saying? Both singing from the same song sheet !

Has he had a change of food? Could something have scared him when people are out so that he is extra 'happy; to see when you come back?

Thanks for all your help guys, I think I know whats going on now though, my mum has just started a new job so she is out of the house a little longer than usual, that'll be why he's going crazy to see people, Bectil i think you're onto something there, i will have to speak to Mark (mums bf) about it!!

Make sure your spending as much time as possible doing exciting and tiring things with Milo when you arrive home from school, so he is not so pent up when he sees everyone again. Make sure he has contact with other dogs at weekends also, and plenty of running around and training to keep him fulfilled and under control

Well, I hope you get it sorted and to be honest, you haven't met a hyper, crazy dog until you've met my Cocker Spaniel! But then again, typical Spaniel I guess. Wouldn't change him for the world its great to know someone is happy with your presence haha
