Holly was the dog of my childhood. She was small crossbreed mutt and the perfect dog.
We got her from the RSPCA as a 2 year old who had been dumped, heavily pregnant. Her breed was anyone's guess.
She was effortlessly obedient and mastered every command we taught her.
My only regret was that I hadn't found agility sooner.
We moved abroad and took her with us, but it didn't work out and after a couple of years we had to come home. By this time she was 12 years old and we felt it would be cruel to fly her back as there was a chance she wouldn't survive, so we left her there with some friends. She passed away 3 years later, aged 15. What was perhaps most remarkable was the fact that she remained free from ailments right to the end. Aside from her hearing failing and tiring easily on walks, she remained as healthy and as active as she had always been. When she went, it was suddenly in her sleep one night.
She was a great dog.
