Don't know about grynch B.T,but we found a dog continually wanting a ball throwing on a long walk to be quite frankly a pain in the bum, rather like a nattering child,so walk becomes less of a pleasure.Dogs also have to learn to walk along with you nicely. I agree with that migsy! Not that either of my two are ball obsessed, but Oscar the JRT is. Before his operation last year, he would have his ball from the moment he left the house and he would constantly drop it in front of you as you walked, wanting it kicked. After his operation, the ball was withheld until we got to the school field and he learnt to walk nicely behind us (not that he was forced to walk there!). Lately, he has been getting his ball earlier and earlier on walks and has started his old behaviour of dropping it in front of people as they're walking, which I find annoying. I will kick it if it's right in front of my foot, but I generally ignore him. Ellie loves to chase her ball too, but I restrict it to the school field where she can have a proper run and she's happy with that and walks calmly or explores the different places we pass, which I'm happy with.

I wish mine ignored other dogs to play with her ball, Katy just loves a ball but if another dog appears she always wants to go and bug it so she stays on a lead most of the time now. I can see Maisie in your avatar Grynch, she looks beautiful Hope you stick around on the forum!

Just like people, some dogs love dogs, some aren't too fussed My boy doesn't enjoy playing with other dogs but will have a sniff. As long as you're both happy enough with the ball throwing/chasing, embrace it! Why not have a look at flyball, she sounds like she'd be perfect for it Although that does sometimes turn dogs into ball obsessive lunatics
