I have...or rather had, a pure white cat. He is now a rather dull greyish colour, and seems to have no interest in washing at all! He is almost a year old, and is quite a big cat, a cross between a British shorthair and a ragdoll. Given the large number of pointy ends, I'm not sure I could bath him....any ideas how to get him to wash? He is not the brightest of cats, but very friendly!

Hi carol, welcome to the forum. Hope you enjoy it here I'm Toni with 4 rescue cats aged between 4 & 14. I've not had to deal with this problem, more often the reverse - stress washing. However there are some dry shampoos available but not sure if they're suitable for full body use. Pets At Home stock some & they will probably be some available on the internet. That isn't really a long term solution though. Where there any issues with his kitten life before you got him?

Hi, I don't have that much experience with cats although i do have a 9 year old rescue moggy. I would say firstly to get your cat checked over by the vet just incase their is. underlying issue, and they should also beable to give you a liitle advise. Good Luck:-)

Chantel - good point. A cat that doesn't groom may be unable too due to pain like in the case of older cats with arthritis.

If you work something out, let me know! I have a white cat and she was a housecat when I adopted her, and Daz white! Now, I let her outside and she's definitely dull/off white. It's not that she doesn't wash, she does often, but she likes to go all the dirty places she can find!
