Hi there everyone, I have 3 beautiful adorable young cats, a silver tabby, a little black and white girly and a female British blue! They are aged 2, 1 and a half, and 2 and a quarter respectively! I love reading Your Cat and getting ideas for toys etc for them

I would love to have another cat, ideally a fluffy one, as I really miss my fluffy Tabby that I had when I was growing up. But for now I think 3 is the limit! In a few years if I buy my own place, I will hope to add a fourth! I love tortie and whites and ginger and whites.... and I love Maine Coons!! I have a friend who has a torbie and white Maine Coon, she is just getting more gorgeous all the time! She's huuuuge though so I wouldn't get a Maine Coon unless I had a huge house!!

Thanks everyone for the nice welcome I have posted in the Your Cat Magazine section about an article in this month's issue, called The Future For Cats... just wondered what everyone thought of it? I liked the article but felt it didn't address all the issues facing cats and their owners, especially how to keep cats safe from the threat of cars. I have lost one to a car and you never feel they're safe outdoors after that experience

Its always interesting to read other peoples preferences and choices - there can be no right or wrong answer if this is your own experience.

The last one was only 8 months old and because of that I have a cat pen in the garden to keep my cats safe. Toffee, however, is an outside cat that I adopted last year - he hates my dog (who loves cats!) and although he loves my other cats and plays with them through the mesh of the pen I feel he could never mix freely with them as the boys (the 2 Maine Coons) wouldn't accept him. I have to worry about Toffee being out and about, although he is very street-wise. In the night he is shut in the cat pen for his own safety.

I also have one outdoor cat, even though he gets on fine with the other 2, but he is just not happy being confined in the pen all the time. This is mainly because he is a very keen hunter, and our cat pen is just on the patio so he can't get close enough to the rodents and birds down the end of the garden!! He gets very distressed if he can't go out, but he is confined at night time in the house with the others. Luckily he is very streetwise so he knows to avoid cars and strangers.

Welcome Bluemoon,
I haven't got any pets at the moment, but lots of my neighbours have cats in central London and they seem to dodge the cars most days....it is a fairly quiet street trafficwise though.
