@doggiesrule one of our cats, Penny, has arthritis & the vet has put her on Nutraquin+ (as well as Metacam) - only available through vets I believe. There is a dog version as well see www.nutravet.co.uk/

Don't know if that's of any interest. I know a lot of people swear by glucosamine for arthritis (both human & animal)
