Animals I love: dogs, hedgehogs, seals
Pets I own: i own an African Pygmy Hedgehog called Alby his 11 weeks old.
alby is now nearly 2. i have a springer spaniel called bob he turned 1 in october

Hello my pig has had 4 babies, how old do there have to be to leave mum ? it was a complete shock as iv only had her 6 weeks thought she was just fat up to about a week ago when i could feel them moving inside her !! many thanks lou

Congratulations to mum. Hope you've recovered from your shock @loulou in finding out your pig was pregnant.
Afraid I can't help about the weaning etc. I don't know anything about pigs, sorry.

That would have been a shock! As you have already noticed I'm sure, baby guinea pigs are very advanced when they are born compared to babies of most species. They can leave Mum from 3-5 weeks, I'd hold onl to them until at least 4 weeks personally, preferably 5 or 6 weeks, but that's just me. To be honest, I wouldn't be able to give them up!
You should check the sexes though, males can impregnate their mother from around 3 weeks, so if you have any males, they will need seperating sooner.

Congratulations! 4 baby guinea pigs. I had guinea pigs when I was a teenager and 2 of them had babies. They are born with their eyes open, run around and actually eat normal guinea pig food very soon. Good advice from SarahHound. Hope to see some photos soon.
