Sadly the results have shown Milo has cancer. It's OK though, he's sill a happy pig in himself. He can have surgery, but it won't cure it, only *maybe* prolong his life slightly. And being a middle aged pig, he likely wouldn't survive the op anyway. He could have steroids, but again, its not going to cure it, and it would be stressful for him. So for now he's eating, drinking and squeaking away, so we're leaving him be I dont really think there are any words of comfort for this kind of situation other than at least you know he is happy and you are giving him a great quality of life. Sending yourself & Milo kind thoughts & hugs

Thanks. I know some will think I'm letting him down or letting him suffer by not having him operated on. But I know my pig, I know he'd be happier just being a pig. He loves eating, so today he's been allowed to eat as much as he wants. We found him the biggest dandelion leaf ever, and he ate and ate and ate. He's more likely to die of dandelion consumption than cancer at the moment...

Oh that's so sad, but I know you've made the right decision. As long as he's eating a pooing ok then it's so much kinder to let him enjoy however long he has left, and know that you gave him the best life possible. Sending you {{HUGS}}

You are going the right and humane way about this very sad diagnosis S.H. We made the same decision with Gemma our f.c.r. when she was diagnosed with liver cancer at 13,we didn't think it fair to put her through a massive operation.She had a longer very happy remaining life than we had dared hoped for,and we never regretted our decision.Sure Milo will forgive you the trauma of the vets,he knows he is in the very best hands with you.

That is the biggest dandelion leaf I have ever seen. He looks very happy chomping on it. I hope he enjoys his last days free of medication and stress, and has lots more dandelion leaves to scoff.

Thanks. Have just been chatting to someone in the same position with her pig, and he's still going 4 months after the diagnosis. So that's good news Hopefully Milo has a bit of time left yet. I only adopted him in May, doesn't seem like we've had him long enough

I only adopted him in May, doesn't seem like we've had him long enough You haven't but whatever time you had and will have has made Milo a very lucky guinea pig especially if he keeps getting the world's biggest dandelion leaves

Unlike we humans,animals don't fret about dying,so Milo is blissfully unaware and enjoying a happy life in spite of it.Gemma probably wondered why I was sad at times after her diagnosis,as she was so happy and active it was hard to accept what was going on.

I don't think he has much longer sadly. We've got an appointment for Thursday to have him put to sleep. I'm honestly not sure if he is going to make it to Thursday.
