Hi, I have an 8 year old Sprocker Spaniel who has arthritis in her stifles and hips. I would like to insure her and understand that insurance companies won't cover her for her arthritis but because she has an existing problem none will insure her anyway. I'm finding it frustrating because it isn't as if I am trying to pull the wool over their eyes, I would declare it but I can't understand why they wouldn't insure her and have the condition exempted. Does anyone know of ANY companies that would do this? Thanks

Hi Lisa welcome to the forum. Have you made it clear to them that you are not looking to have the arthritis included ?
Sorry as only said couple days ago, I don't insure Beau, so can't help with insurers names, I am sure someone will come along thou and maybe help x

It may be because she is classed as a senior dog being 8? I'm not sure why they wouldn't insure her for other conditions if you have said that you don't want the arthritis covering.. This company cover for over 8's but the premium will probably be more expensive. Could be worth giving them a ring www.animalfriends.org.uk/insurance-for-old-pets/Who have you tried to insure her with?

Thanks for your welcome and yes I've made it clear. Charlotte, I have tried e & l but will try the other one thank you. It might actually be that she is 8, you're right, I never thought of that but I will give the first link a try and then maybe start searching for policies for senior dogs. Thanks for your help

That's really odd if they won't cover her but they cover senior dogs? I hope you can get her insured by someone If not, could your put £30ish away a month? That could give some cover in case of any emergencies. I know some others on the forum do this
