I often think of the pets I have loved and lost and these words are just beautiful.

I like the Rainbow Bridge idea, but I never like the idea it implies that you then move on to 'heaven' together (pearly gates and all that). It is a nice poem though

Only just read that and am crying my eyes out. At this time of year we all think of those who have left us, be they pets or loved ones of the human kind.

I lost Mum 5 years ago November. It doesn't seem to get any easier the fact she's not here, but I can accept it a bit more. I just get so angry with smokers... it was lung cancer that did for Mum and she was a smoker. I just think it's playing Russian roulette everytime someone lights up. I get really annoyed with parents with young children who smoke especially. I didn't mean to upset you Scallyway. I think the best way to remember our parents or anyone who has had a special input into our life that has gone is to be the best we can and to keep trooping on, even on the bad days.

It is such a beautiful poem I'm welling up too Having lost my beloved mo in May 2012, I'll never forget her, and she holds a special place in my heart. I lost my dog Zak a springer spaniel in November 95, and I'm sure that one day we'll all met up again. Especially sad after hearing of the loss of Kaya and mayhem tonight. Rachel x

Smoking is blamed on many things-fact is we are all born with some form of cancer in our system. I know what it's like to see someone die from the horrible disease. My dad passed away in 1978 from lung cancer when I was only 12, and yes he smoked. What we do in life does TO A DEGREE determine how our well being unfolds...but I have known people to have smoked heavily and died in their 90's from natural causes
