The great law of mr sod has struck again. I took Floyd and Georgia to the Vet's for their flea and wormer. Floyd is prone to harvest mites so the vet checked him over and he was clean. Four days later... Yep! Now he's got the little blighters.

I have heard of harvest mites but haven't a clue what they are or what they look like.

I'd not met harvest mites before so looked them up - poor Floyd. Hope you can get rid of them - what do you use?

Harvest mites look like little orange dots and are typically found between the toes, around the tail end and on the under belly. Flloyd picks at his fur when infected so when clumps appear from this time onwards we check. They are an irritant to the cat. Treatment is usally a jolly soaking with Frontline spray at the end of which you have a drenched and annoyed cat but one that should be on the way to being clear of the blighters. They are more commonly associated with areas with crops (hence harvest mites) but we have an allotment close by so that is where he will have picked them up from I should think.

Thanks, hopefully not applicable to our lot - its more woodland. Hope Flloyd feels the benefits of the drenching soon.
