We took our dogs today to a fun dog show and Hoddy was a complete nightmare. She does quite a few shows and has never been this bad. Normally she has got quite a high tolerance of other dogs. She will just sit or lie down and ignore the other dogs around her. In fact the only time she barks at other dogs is when they get in her face and won't budge. Today was completely different. She kept lunging, barking and growling at various different dogs, in what was quite an aggressive manner. This included our friends dog, who she normally adores and is happy to be around. The show was held by a physio vet group and one of the vets kindly checked her over and couldn't find any obvious injury that might be causing her pain. She's perectly well in herself as well.
Around the time of the show, there had been thunderstorms forcast. Thankfully we missed them, but could it have been this that made her so tempermental? A few months ago she went deliquant and wouldnt come back when called whilst out on a run because a fighter plane went overhead.
Apologies for the long winded message, but it was really out of character for her and it worried me.

Sorry I can't give any advice but it must be worrying to have Hoddy act out of character. I hope that it was a one off & that you can work out what caused it.

I think dogs are sensitive to changes in atmospheric pressure that are associated with thundery weather - and a dog that is scared of thunder might well be stressed by its expectation of coming thunder. We have sometimes had dogs that seemed stressed and worried before there was any thunder audible. Sorry not to be more help but perhaps this is a possibility.

I agree with CollieSlave. Many dogs don't enjoy experiences of thunderstorms - and many dogs can also sense arrivals/expectations!
