I take mine off at work regularly, I'm a housekeeper, and sometimes its so hot up there! We clean ourselves out the room, so we know the carpets/floors won't be dirty when we are finished.
Some jobs though, it just wouldn't be acceptable or practical. Downright dangerous in some jobs!

To me this is acceptable! Its just taking your shoes off. If we were animals we would never wear shoes!

No problem so long as I wasn't dealing with members of the public or staff from other offices. Don't think it would look good for shoe sales people though!

It depends of you work in heavy industry or not, If I'm working in one spot then yes I'd take my shoes off, (might not get them back on again) but if I'm moving about then my shoe will stay on as its just too dangerous to take them off. ie. I work in an old mill with old wooden floors so I could get splinters. Or when moving pallets around I could stub my toes.

I'd get a right b*llocking if I took my shoes off at work. I was nearly very tempted to the other day when cleaning out the pets as it was waayyyy too hot.

I have my shoes off right now!!! But then I do work from home so the only ones to be put off by my feet are hubby, Cooper or the cats.

Like others have said, if you're interacting with public or working in a potentially hazardous environment, no. I wouldn't take my shoes off at work as there's a chance I'd slip in water/hair, trip over driers etc. Plus, you never know if a dog has dropped you a sneaky present on the floor It's unbearably hot at work at the minute and my feet ache all the time. If I worked in an office I might consider it - even though feet creep me out lol!

I wouldn't wear any other shoes other than my boots when gardening. I should be wearing steel toe caps really, though I wear walking boots which are sturdy. Even for propagation classes in college, we had to wear steelys because of health and safety.. we might drop a seed or some plants on our foot, now that would hurt!? I do agree with everyone else - depends on the work environment. bectil
