I have one cat who constantly rips the wallpaper. I have three large scratch posts in the house so there's plenty to keep him occupied. I've shouted at him, lifted him down and am at my wits end. Really don't know how to deter him from this. Please help!!!!

Welcome to the forum, (luckily for me) I've never had to deal with this, ours just use the carpet occasionally but mainly a scratch post.
Is his scratching just in one (or two) spot or all over your home? Scratching is a form of territorial marking & cats tend to reinforce those markings as they fade. I'm assuming he is an indoor only cat, is he the only cat & on his own a lot, in which case even though there are 3 scratch posts does he have access to other toys when on his own? How old is he & I assume he is neutered?
Is he a fan of catnip, if so can I suggest rubbing the scratch posts with catnip. Also try & distract him when he goes to use the wallpaper & take him to a scratch post & praise him when he uses it, maybe the use of a treat. By distract I mean rolling a ball or waving a teaser wand, whatever toy appeals to him.
I should have said I'm Toni with 4 rescue cats aged 4 to 14.

Hi thanks for getting back to me. He is mad lol - he rips wallpaper, steals kitchen roll, steals food you name it he does it. There are 3 large scratch posts in the house - when he is on one of them he rips the wallpaper!!! I have two cats - Star who is quiet as a mouse and Gerrard who is nuts!!! They have plenty of toys and both are neutered. Haven't tried the catnip - will see how it goes - he scratches the carpet as well.
